[SPOILERS] Lewger goes for the Bigwyn

brick accepted our deal:

while I was logged in Xenu declared war on serdoa. LOL. I think he's on tilt with brick taking 2 cities from him and wants out of this game quickly frown.

also azza logged in to play:
azza completed walls in iron maiden, and its on a hill, so probably he just feels it is secure and is moving his HA's east while he is somewhat exposed remining the gold mine (he has workers on the gold mien covered by a praet and spear). but it makes me nervous. I moved one C2 spear from king arthur to the sheep to go to the odyssey next turn.

Turn 133:

first of all, serdoa revolted to caste system and beuracracy. we're a good 20 turns away from that, yuck frown (or more). good news is I think we're on par w/ all the other techers (not sure about slowcheetah, but we should be close and on par with plako and high-maintenence commodore), and I think he'll slow down in the mid-late game when colossus becomes obsolete and pyramids become irrelevant.

Azza is making me nervous.
here we see his first elephant. I'm a little comforted that he is playing zone defense w/ his horse archers. Since we aren't invading any time soon im just glad he isn't moving them in one direction to launch an attack. the elephant makes sense - lewwyn moved an axe onto the wine tile to cover the worker and spear while the winery completes, so azza needs a unit to cover his spear and praet from the axe that isn't melee. that means we only have 2 archers (plus another spear en route) in the aeneid - but it has walls, 25% fortify bonus plus CG, and all he can reach it with in 1 turn is a chariot and HA, both of which would have low odds.

we need more military smile.

chop came in same turn as overflow from the ligthouse in the iliad. if we wish, we can 3 pop whip it next turn, or wait a few turns.

really excited about song of rolands potential as a hammer/military city:

when these builds complete and the 3 hills are mined, it will be a better military pump than maths even. which is very useful. In the short term it can make sure the east has plenty of military to fend off serdoa - in the long term it can build a secondary force of maces and cats to launch an eastern invasion on azza when the time comes.

lewwyn, I can tell from your build queues you were starting to get a little worried about azza's military as well. (especially whipping the spear in the Aeneid to overflow into an elephant.

how about we try this?
1. next turn -whip the market in the Iliad. give the Iliad both grains to quickly regrow to size 6-8. might as regrow on a wealth build as there isn't anything we need in the city until the forge when we discover metal casting.
2. this will make it easy to slow growth in Gilgamesh. keep it at size 11 until we have another happy (market completed, wine and/or gold hooked up - all happening soon). this will allow us to go ahead and move the elephant south to the odyssey.
3. after market completes, have Gilgamesh pump out military (elephants or cats) until we feel more secure. we may want to keep them in a spot out of azza's sight so it doesn't cause him to increase military as well. the settler we need for the island city can be built by the Iliad once it grows to a certain size - since it can have plenty of food but is low on hammers, settler/workers are about all it can build quickly w/o whips anyway.

edit: also, I see the galley in volsung finishes soon (5 turns). why not have our current galley head east? It can pick up the chariot once the marble city is founded and grab the unclaimed hut on the tundra island. then it can head east to make contact w/ merohoc, plako, and slowcheetah (the chariot can also disembark on bricks land to make contact w/ xenu - if he is still alive at that point). looking at the map it seems we will be able to make contact w/ all 4 civs this way pre-astronomy.

well from civ stats: xenu's suicide is on schedule, serdoa took a city from him. no doubt the one city (new fish?) that he had on the mainland next to Serdoa. his other cities will be tougher for serdoa to reach, he'd have to boat units to them. so hopefully brick gets them instead.

hopefully serdoa keeps his full army in the east and we can settle our marble city without any issue - it will be a bit before song of roland is developed enough to pump units into it, and we can get walls in place.

I'm going to be able to get Illiad to 2 pop whip the market in 2-3 turns I believe. I think this is superior to 3 pop whipping the city now. Also Illiad will grow to 7 in 2t using only the wheat. When we whip it we'll grab the rice too and grow the city high.

Next turn we turn tech on and will 3t MC.

Azza is not attacking us anytime soon, I whipped the library instead of the WE for now.

The Iliad plan sounds good. nervous about the military situation, but I'll defer. Just try to fit in military as you're able because we aren't going to run out of buildings we need in any city soon (forge--Market-- courthouse, we can skip courthouses in cities close to the capital but we'll need it in El cid, popol(8 maintenence!!) and song of roland at least).

how close are we to more settlers? :P

I'm gonna do a turn report after I have time to take more pictures, but have to comment on this:

Lewwyn, the worker was building a cottage and I stopped him. I think this spot HAS to be a workshop. the cottage takes 3 turns, we can build workshops in 4, so its just silly to build a workshop here. I think we should build a workshop over the cottage 1W of that too, honestly. we're gonna be in caste before too long (I think we should anyway) . actually maybe we should figure out some long term plans, I'll elaborate before I go to bed with my plans for the next 30-40 turns to see if we're on the same page - after I do a longer turn report.

Also, after I recommended you move the galley east I realize you were probably planning to transport a spear from the aeneid to song of roland (for the marble city) - am I right you're going to do that after the winery is built and the worker moved to safety? good call if so, we need a spear in the marble city to prevent an opportunistic strike by Serdoa, and we have plenty of them.

Also, I'm rather annoyed - buddhism spread to popol. I'm afraid that whole sub continent will become buddhist if we don't get a jewish missionary to song of roland fast frown. then we'll need one at some point in popol as well. crap.

ok, not actually that much to report.

here's progress in the east:
Lewwyn is building a road to mahabrata (sp?). looks like it will be 3 turns before we can whip the settler in popol so the road will be in place.
actually we might be better off with the archer going to this city until we can get a spear in place? song of roland should be safe from barbs and can produce its own archer soon enough, right?
Note that buddhism spread to popol, and serdoa captured a barb city as well as a city off xenu frown.

re: the insane GNP. (note we're at 212 at 100%). I think Plako launched a MOM golden age - he popped a great scientist this turn. I imagine he'll be in beuracracy by the end of the golden age.

Lewwyns probably right about azza playing zone defense and not planning assault, but now im worried about serdoa, heh.
he won't be at war with xenu long.

global lurkers have probably seen this already, but here's a view of pindiscooter's conquest for our ded-lurkers. Quite impressive! I traded maps a few turns ago but it seems like they just updated this turn.
Boston market was just founded last turn. Culvers is their new capital.

here's a global view of plako's empire:
Plako has expanded impressively, considering how much jungle he has. compare that with the west - serdoa hasn't expanded into the jungle at all, scooter never had the chance to expand into jungle, and azza just planted his first jungle city recently.

turns out I don't have time to post more. lewwyn, I put up a bunch of "workshop" and "farm" signs to show you some of my plans post-civil service, and why I think caste system will be useful just for the workshop buff/extra hammers alone. I'll clarify later, I don't think there's a rush, we're still abit off from that.

Great update Bigger. Looks like Commodore and Plako are in the driving seat, I wonder if they can get to each other pre-Astro? hammer
