Micromanagement Sims/Planning

I generally agree, but not in Gourmet Menu. That's our second-best research city, and the micro was deliberately set up to complete a library inside. It's very much not a waste to complete a library there while we're doing heavy research. The other cities look like better targets.

Looks like we could still complete the library EOT112. So the library would be delayed three turns. I think 100 gold is worth it, but maybe there are better options.

One option might be to build a worker in Seven Tribes and 2-whip it at 22/60 on T109. Just eyeballing this by looking at the micro spreadsheet, though, so not sure if it's possible to configure it for that. And I could very well be missing the bigger picture.

I like Zak's suggestions.

I took a look at the T107 save from your save stack. GM is in fact not our second-best research city, but our 5th best research city at the current time. Although, to be fair, the third to fifth place rankings are virtually a tie. Anyway, MM, FF, and HF all produce more beakers in their current configurations, and of those, only MM has a library yet. So I don't think delaying the library in GM is such a big deal. It's pulling between 25 and 30 beakers depending on configuration, so we're missing out on something like 20 beakers from the library on those three turns, in exchange for 90-100 gold, depending on how many hammers we put into SoZ. The nice thing is that the lighthouse whip is scheduled to happen already, but if we try to find somewhere else to generate failgold, we'll probably have to slot in a new whip, which is much more disruptive to the micro plan.

If we go with the delayed lighthouse whip overflowing into SoZ, the tiles must be shuffled around a bit on T108. We're about to spread religion in GM, so it should pass the iron to HF and be configured for 8 base hammers, and 10 with the OR bonus. This puts the lighthouse at a nigh-perfect 21/60 hammers. When whipping on T109, we could take the iron back to dump more hammers into SoZ, or leave it with HF for another turn or two.

In fact, the library is at 63/90 hammers, and after it gets the OR boost, GM can easily reach 15 hammers/turn. (By working iron, the plains hill mine, and two plains cottages.) So we should be able to finish the library EOT111, i.e. only delaying it by two turns.

In short: 90-100 gold is way better than the 15-20 beakers we lose by delaying the library for two turns, so the library in GM should wait.

A final note: nobody is building SoZ on T108 either. (BbB is only building it on T109 and T113 - a very smooth build!) So we should probably pick some available city to put a few hammers into it on T108, too. (Seven Tribes for example, which could give us 20 failgold instead of 10 hammers into a library.) Edit: looks like ivory won't be connected on T108, so no need to bother with this last bit.

I think Zak's idea is a really nice one. Whenever you can take advantage of cheap fail gold, it is basically an exploit.

zakalwe does have an excellent suggestion. It's good enough that I don't even hate you for making me go through and spend another 90 minutes sandboxing this once again to straighten out all the little details. lol Here it is updated again at the same link as before: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...ring#gid=0

I've put the Statue of Zeus failgold turns in bold text for easy viewing. We're able to get about 150 failgold in total, most of that from Gourmet Menu and then another 56 from whip overflow on a missionary in The Covenant. The tradeoff is a library delayed by 5t in Gourmet Menu, and a market that's not even started instead of 50/150 completed. But I would agree that this is a worthwhile trade, since 1:1 ratio on failgold overflow is ridiculously efficient. We even complete the library just as we're about to go full throttle on Civil Service research; most of the lost turns are 0% research turns anyway.

Other locations were not good options for more Statue of Zeus abuse. We need the overflow from the settler whip at Eastern Dealers to complete its library, and I didn't see any other options too appealing on T111. I guess we could swap one turn of production on Shwedagon Paya at Focal Point and turn that into another 38 failgold, but I'd rather just have Paya a turn earlier and run less risk of losing it. Ummm... we could get 14 measly failgold in the capital that turn with its sad 7 production. Perhaps? crazyeye

Nice work Sullla. What's that about Eastern Dealers, though? The plan has it overflowing from the settler whip into a war chariot and a lighthouse. My idea was to overflow into SoZ instead, and also delay the settler whip by one turn, both for timing and for more overflow. This might be debatable since it delays the settler, but I don't see anything about a library in ED in the plan, so I wonder if we're talking about the same thing.

Anyway, building SoZ in the capital on that turn is better than nothing. I'd go with that as the fallback option. It won't break the game, but every little bit helps. smile

Due to OR, we're actually getting 2.25 gold per base hammer on these builds - pretty sweet.

With IND and a forge, fail gold is one of the biggest exploits IMO.

Regardless, ED needs a library for the NE, and it needs to build the NE. So maybe leeching hammers from that city is to be avoided.

Yeah, like I said earlier, I could well be missing the bigger picture. I did not factor in that ED was slated for the NE, so that's a good point. I was basically just looking for existing whips where I could hijack the whip overflow. smile
