Okay, let's just kick off a game then, although I'm a bit hesitant about being teamed up on by my brother and Mackoti...
Here are suggested settings, lifted from this thread and from PBEM47. Speak up if you want anything changed:
Quote:Civ/Leader Restrictions: Normal snake pick with no restrictions.
Wonder bans: No bans.
Spy bans: Missions banned.
Other bans: Nukes. WE. Naval Blockades.
Map: Manually mirrored/rotated for four players.
World size: Standard.
Difficulty: Flat/Monarch-Emperor or Cylindrical/Prince-Monarch or Toroidal/Noble.
Speed: quick.
Huts, events, TT, vassal states all off
AI diplo
Personally I think I want to change this to Naval Blockades allowed, and I want to ban India, Inca, Fin and Exp. Also do the snake pick without seeing our starts. And I actually think I prefer Always War after all. I'm flexible on all these issues though.

I would like to ban the SoZ, as well.
I vote for AW as well.

To be clear: Spies and great spies cannot leave your own territory?
Everything else sounds good to me.

My understanding of "missions banned" would be they can explore but can't do anything else. If they can't leave your territory, it'd be "No spies".

I'm ok with above, and agree on the SoZ ban proposed by dazed. I generally dislike spies, but I'm fine with "no missions". If we're going AW, I would prefer to not build them. If someone has a strong feeling on either of these preferences, I'll go with it.
If we're not going to see the start, we'll have to trust the mapmaker to make the start well enough that any reasonable leader/civ combo won't relegate someone (me) to the loser's bracket.

Edit: if we're doing a 4 team mirror map, I think the toroid (so, Noble?) makes for more interesting situations since you could border everyone else. YMMV, and again, I'll be agreeable if others have strong feelings on this point.

Boldly, I see your point. I'm not too worried though since the competition in this game puts me in the loser bracket even if I get a the best start for my traits while everyone else is shafted!

Handmade mirrors are way more flexible than those scripts, I can easily make it a cylinder and interesting. Flat would be a little sad.
Let's say this, I'm thinking right now a Monarch cylinder, anyone mind that?
