[SPOILERS] Lewger goes for the Bigwyn

Let's see if any wonders fall during the next 8 turns. I think grabbing guilds though makes sense for workshops though. Is the Music artist taken? We need another GP for a GA eventually though I guess stonehenge and gilgamesh could do that.

yeah. music is still out there but im not sure we can hit it. since we'll be in caste we can always run specialists in gilgamesh to speed it up. Shahnameh will also be guild for specialists, especially if build national epic there.

aesthetics and literature are much cheaper than feudalism and guilds, which is why I was leaning towards grabbing it after machinery. (plus we have marble, or will have soon, so both wonders would be fairly easy to build and very useful). I could be convinced otherwise though, I do think its close.

We got a Jew spread to Azza's capital and have vision on it and the land around. There's an elephant headed north toward presets there. I guess I need to build more military...

Barb spear and sword converged on our maha city. It's slowed the worker and will be annoying hopefully they both suicide into the axe and archer in the city.

I decided to build the missionary in arthur. Will whip it when the city grows to 3. I also put the overflow from Odyssey into a catapult.

Gold is hooked.

Had a worker move on a misclick when my wife hit my hand while I was holding the mouse... Its not in danger but it wasted a turn.

Next turn we'll see if the hut is still there, and in 2 turns we'll see whats inside.

logged in before lewwyn played (just him and xenu left, got impatient). a few notes before I take pictures:
1. the barb units did indeed suicide against axe and archer in mahabhrata. free experience smile. axe now has 10 and can promote.
2. aeneid finished its worker, I had to put it on something so I just put it on a market. not sure what you had in mind.
with the worker completing in gilgamesh next turn I think we have plenty in the west. we may need more in the east though.
The worker in popol can be whipped this turn, which is probably a good idea. switching off the engineer and 2-1-0 forest to the two cottages gives us much needed commerce to finish civil service in 2 turns, don't guess it matters if you whip tho.
3. the iliad is now size 9. it can be two pop whipped this turn or next for massive overflow, after that it will have enough hammers to 1 pop whip only. I think we should 2 pop whip and overflow into a settler. (it will be 50+ hammers plus OR modify.. and forge modifier? not sure how that works, but we should be able to pop out the settler quickly). settler for the eastern tundra city I guess, so popol and song of roland don't have to worry about that.
4. song of roland can 1 pop whip its settler. however, if you don't whip it, the worker that just chopped into it can chop the forest where that city will will found into song of roland on the turn it founds, so as not to waste it. maybe you were planning that anyway? it works out nicely.
5. missionary hits mahabrata this turn. assuming we don't get the 10% screw of having a religion there already, we'll be getting 15 gold turn + market modifier. woohoo smile. that makes the borders expand in 2 turns instead of 3, so you might as well road the marble - you'll be able to quarry it the same turn borders expand.
6. started a courthouse in El Cid. we do need one there, so not complaining, but just want to point out that Maths actually has a higher maintenence (not really sure why, it has a lower distance maintenence but a higher # of cities maintenence, which really doesnt make sense to me). we'll probably need a courthouse everywhere we can reasonably build it that isn't gilgamesh or the iliad.
maybe after maths completes its catapult it should pop out a 4 turn settler? maybe 3 turn, with the overflow from the catapult. its garrison archer could move up to garrison the new city, then maths could quickly pop out an archer for itself.

Overall you're doing a great job. starting to get workshops in place in math and song of roland smile those will both be excellent hammer pumps once we get civil service and can build the farms as well, and revolt to caste.

ill do a full report tonight after lewwyn has played and the turn has rolled.

It just occured to me that azza hasn't researched metal casting yet. so at the very least we'll be up 15-20 turns on macemen to him. it seems like a wasted opportunity not to invade him. I don't mean trying to conquer him - I would just keep an equal force near the odyssey/aenid to his stack in A7x, then invade Iron maiden. if we can raze Iron maiden and the presets and setup our own city to claim the stone, that would relieve a tremendous amount of pressure. if he moves his A7x army west we can move in and recapture beowulf - but otherwise let that front alone.
then make peace once we have razed those 2 and setup our city, and it will make a later invasion of his southern holdings + beowulf much easier.

knights will be great, of course, but he does have elephants and I wouldnt be surprised to see him go after engineering soon. but we have 4 cats and 2 more building, and can get 15 or so in the field by the time we research machinery. then with just gilgamesh, maths, and song of roland pumping out maces we can get 15-20 - I don't think azza can support anywhere near the amount of military needed to defend against that. we can attack before he even has the tech for maces, or soon after. we just need to get the courthouses and markets in place in the mean time (and 2-3 more cities).

btw. we're #2 at GNP. at 50% science we have 217. number one is like 415 though. yuck. I think it serdoa, but his golden age just ended. so hopefully I'm wrong and its plako who is probably still in a golden age (since he built MOM).

if it is serdoa, he's going to get rifles way before us and run over us in the east frown. oh well, hopefully we can absorb azza long before that happens.

Azza is building more and more WEs. frown
His power has jumped and we're still fine, but I'm building cats and spears. His army is mostly WEs so spears are actually more effective against his WEs than our WEs, but I am building more WEs after this round of spears.

And he does have MC. He got it the turn before us I believe. So I'm really not very hopeful of a mace/cat attack on Azza. We are better off expanding as much as possible and maintaining peaceful relations with Azza until someone else declares war on Azza...

ah shit then. I forgot he had metal casting.
as for expanding, we don't have much more we can expand. after the settler your building now, we have 2 decent tundra cities, a fillerish city that bridges the north sea with serdoa's ocean, and a mediochore island city. not sure where we can expand after those 5. there is another gems city south of shahmarah but its right on serdoa's ass and he could just take it from us at will anyway.

we're also falling farther and farther behind commodore, serdoa, plako, and slowcheetah frown. not sure what to do about it, we're going to have to take a chunk out of azza to get back in the game. you're right that will be tough though frown.

I'm fine with playing it by ear, but I'd rather crash our economy to crash into azza than maintain the status quo - where both us and azza stay right in the middle. im actually hoping azza is planning to attack us in 10-15 turns to break up the stalemate.


our economy is better than azza's - but not by that much. Im not sure knights will help us much w/ all his elephants, and by the time we can get gunpowder units we may be so far behind it doesnt matter.
