RBP10 IT and Tech Issues Thread

This is the IT and Tech Issues Thread for RBP10. The planning thread can be found here.

The game is now live. If this is your first time connecting please read this entire post carefully. Text in Red will be of interest to veterans.

Access the game via DirectIP connection to sunrise089.dyndns.org:2062. No password is needed (nor will one permit a successful connection) when connecting to the game. Make 100% sure there are no spaces in the field or you'll get an error. Spaces love to crop up unexpectedly, so please double-check this before posting that you can't connect.

The first time a player logs into the game they will be asked to set and confirm a password. This is non-trivial to change, so please make sure you know what it is, can remember it, etc.

In-game you can play as normal. This game is played via sequential turns. Under simultaneous turns and possible sequential (YMMV) you can queue unit actions and builds like normal, even after you end turn. I get asked sometimes, so I'll note you press TAB to chat in-game. When you're done playing please log out via Exit to Main Menu, not Exit to Desktop (it creates connectivity/lag issues).

I have set a 24 hour timer per team for the first turn. Starting next turn the timer to approximate 24 real life hours based on how fast things are moving in game. Of course in the future the timer can be tweaked according to the wishes of the players.

This game uses Civstats to track the turns and other info. This game is here. If you want to register via Civstats and claim your civ the password for each civ is "sirian."

RULES YOU MUST FOLLOW
(No banned wonders)
Banned Other: War Elephants, Spy missions, and Nukes
Can't gift cities after their first turn of founding or capture*
Can't accept or cancel trades if one partner has ended turn and the other hasn't
(No ban on giving GPT)
Can't be giving net GPT to partner while striking
General policy is no reloads

* Cities can only be gifted on the turn you found or capture them, before ending turn. Additionally they must be gifted before taking any actions that would not be possible, or have different outcomes, if you had gifted the city already. Examples of such actions:
- Drafting a just-recaptured city.
- Starting a golden age having just captured the MoM city.
- Building an improvement in the second-ring borders of a just-recaptured city. (If you were the original owner, cultural borders can pop immediately for you, but after you gift it the culture will be reset so you couldn't build the improvement.)

Our starting techs are good.

Once the last team verifies they have the right starting techs, they should unpause it so we can get this going.

We don't need team e-mails since this is AW, but did we decide on anything about a banter thread?

Our tech are terrible, but accurate.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

THH hasn't logged into his civ yet, but I've logged into mine and confirmed that our starting techs are correct.

Also, I accidentally got myself into a diplo box and since the game is paused I can't get out of it. So can someone log in and unpause the game? And whichever team goes first can go ahead and do so, since it looks like we're ready to get the ball rolling now. smile

I unpaused - sounds like we are good to go.

We may take a bit to play our turn so don't hold your breath.

Regarding a banter thread, no communication between teams is the definite rule. While I don't see a problem with antagonistic banter, banter threads have a pretty poor track record of sticking to this rule.

That actually reminds me of a point to make for all the teams in the game (but especially the second and third in turn order): civ stats is a bit bugged for sequential games and will only show turns ending correctly for the first team in the turn order (although it will also show the turn rolling at the right time). So for example, I just ended turn, but civ stats doesn't register it. That means teams 2 and 3 will have to post here each time they are done/the turn rolls to the next team. For teams 1 and 4 it couldn't hurt to do the same, although their turn rolls are shown by civ stats.
