Serdoa wants a loan, lol
this has me more bewildered than it should. its 5 free monies (I guess more if he forgets to cancel) and we don't need the 15 gold. OTOH, he needs that 15 gold for a reason, not sure I want to help him out right now..
He could declare war to cancel the treaty, but I don't think Serdoa is the type to do something that slimy
do we still get the 2 gold on a turn we're in revolt? (and 3 from brick, -1 we're giving to commodore)?

I used the trick I learned from xenu to look around, serdoa has 115 gold saved up already. so yeeah I'm at a loss to explain why he would want a loan here. can't see how 130 would be more valuable to him than 115 - maybe he's a tick off literature and he's afraid of losing TGL to Plako?
edit: whatever, I accepted it. I think serdoa is just trying to keep making peaceful gestures so we don't go after him anytime soon and he can focus his military east. which is fine. we're going to turn down research sometime soon in preparation for the academy, so the loan will work for us.
azza is being an ass:
thats the stack 1 NW of iron maiden (just a single elephant covering horses, and 2 elephants + random stuff in iron maiden).
he has a worker in iron maiden, maybe he's planning to chop the forest and has those 2 cover? If he just plans to cottage the tile his stack is on, thats fine. but if he moves his stack west onto the forest, I think I'll have to whip the elephant in maths to run to protect el cid . I'll have to do it that turn, otherwise it won't be able to reach this city in time (and overflow into an axe, I guess).
EDIT: NM. well fuck. commodore declared war on serdoa (hmm) but commodore also cancelled our deal giving us ivory. I have elephants building in 3 spots, I coulda whipped odyssey and the aeneid last turn . I put an axe in maths that can 2 turn, so even if azza moves he can reach el cid without whipping. I have to figure out what to put in odyssey and the aeneid now that we don't have ivory. good news is we only had about 5-6 hammers into each one in odyssey and iliad, and 0 hammers in maths.
glad I accepted the loan to serdoa, commodore should have the edge here so I think I'm rooting for serdoa so commodore doesnt swallow up the whole world.

some random notes that don't need a picture (mostly for lewwyn):
1. azza is trading away an ivory to some unknown civ (he has 2 but only 1 is showing up in trade)
2. scooter is trading silver and wine to azza for azza's stone. he has 3 wines but that is his only source of silver.
3. azza, commodore, and serdoa all have a source of ivory. but only 1 each now that azza is trading one away. since serdoa and commodore are at war, I don't think we can get either one . if they make peace we can try to get a better deal from serdoa than we had from commodore, maybe.
4. azza and brick both have dyes now. again, no real trade bait (don't badly need them either).
5. popol and king arthur both expand to size 3 borders this turn.
6. ended up switching to a spear in the odyssey and a catapult in the aeneid. I'm a little disappointed that we had ivory for as long as we did and only built 3 elephants .
odyssey desperately needs a market, and both cities need a courthouse, but I'm not sure how we will manage to whip them in .
7. I moved a HA (our only 2 mover) from the aeneid to the odyssey. the aeneid has 4 spears and 2 elephants, azza only has 4 2 movers in Ak7, so it won't be defending anyway in an emergency. from the odyssey it can move east or west as needed.
I also stacked 3 catapults from king arthur on a road 1 NW of king arthur. they can move into king arthur and attack if azza invades that city, or move west if azza gets frisky towards el cid or maths.
8. whipped the missionary in song of roland. since shahnahmeh took a hammer tile it had to work a coast anyway. this allows me to 1 turn another missionary next turn (for popol and shahnahmeh), which can make it to shahnahmeh before the granary chop goes in, giving us an extra 15 hammers. we can still complete the workboat in plenty of time before shahnahmeh's borders expand, and we'll be chopping the courthouse out quickly behind that too.
9. I whipped the spear in king arthur, taking it down to size 1 . well if we revolt next turn I want that spear in place - mostly for deterrance.
should I build another spear next or a catapult?
man we have a lot of spears. will be glad when we can build maces instead.
EOT demos, for reference right before we revolt to the big B
note the #1 GNP dropped from 415ish to 279. so I guess Plako is finally out of his golden age. we're only at 40% science here so I think we'll be competitive again in B.

Haven't revolted yet, of course.
commodore built the parthenon in a far away land.
demos at 50% science:
I guess Plako finished a tech and doesnt have the next one preselected.
we can finished machinery in 7 turns at 50%. we don't have the cash to do that, but we should once we revolt. Buro will probably shave a turn off that too.
I turned the research down to 0 for now.

well we're in beuracracy now. Lewwyn and I decided to do a single revolt and save caste for our first golden age. we should have guilds by then anyway so it the workshops will be even better.
before the turn rolled, Azza is still being annoying:
I'm pretty sure he's just covering the worker so he can chop that forest. Which of course is completely unnecessary as I didn't even have a unit handy that could reach that tile in 1 turn. But whatever. It did make me scramble, though - azza has been baiting us to attack for awhile now, imo, and it would be completely worth sacrificing those 2 units 2 take out Poem of El Cid, just using the worker to disguise his plan.
Thats what the axe is for, but unfortunately it will is delayed as I didn't want to put off the revolt. so I moved the horse archer from the odyssey to the aeneid, and the 3 catapults into maths for a turn - in case he does move on EL cid I'll at least have some more units than a single spear in the area. Also thinking after the axe I'll pop out a quick CG3 archer for El cid to prevent future problems.
-whipped courthouse in el cid and worker in popol before the revolt. I can whip a spear in the odyssey and catapult in the aeneid at will now. thinking of waiting and overflowing them into a market in the odyssey and a courthouse in the aeneid. I need 45 hammers into the odyssey to 3 pop whip the market, and 45 into the aeneid to 2 pop the courthouse (or 15 to 3 pop)... doable fairly quickly .
- commodore (well, thoth) made peace w/ serdoa. That was quick. not sure they even exchanged a city. I thought commodore was going after the form barb city that serdoa captured, but from what I can tell serdoa still has it.
- we gained 20gpt immediately from gilgamesh before messing with the tiles from the revolt. yay. (at 0% of course). we went from taking 9 turns at 50% to hit machinery to 7 turns, immediately making the revolt worth it . it will be even better with the changes I made:
I'm maxing out food here to get to size 16 asap. the health is deceptive - we never roaded the pigs @ maths, so thats 2 extra health there. and I offered scooter a rice for clams deal. if he refuses brick and commodore also have a clams, so we'll get it somehow. gilgamesh can pick up the non-river cottage, the 2 mines, plus a plains mine. or I'll figure out a way to take the riverside plains cottage from the iliad too, not sure. The iliad is working 3 coast tiles since gilgamesh stole its cottages, but thats ok. just moving this town and village to gilgamesh gave us an extra 10 gold .
in 3 turns we'll be size 14, woohoo.
at size 16 we can keep growing or give away the grains and maintain (with the food from crabs). not sure yet.
the plan is to research machinery, then save gold until we have the academy. since azza is now 1 turn from civil service himself, I'm saving gold this turn until I see what he researches next (I'm assuming machinery) and how long it takes.

Don't finish the axe, leave it in queue so it will auto upgrade to mace and only finish it if Azza actually attacks I think.

thats a good idea, but if I don't complete it it won't be able to reach El Cid in time IF azza attacks, and the catapults are only emergency filler, don't really want to use a stack of cats on 3 units.
still I can move a HA in place and try to squeeze out the CG3 archer. maybe go ahead and build walls after the CH in El Cid? I'll play around with it tonight.

Pigs only give 1 health I think - the 2nd health is with the grocer (unless that's what you meant)

I was thinking pigs got +1 with granary.. granary is just grains, though, you're right. regardless I can find a way to get more health, I'll build a friggin' Aquaduct if I have to, got to get Gilgamesh tall . we can also support a little unhealth, gilgamesh has plenty of food.

Better a grocer at Guilds, you must have something which it doubled like: spices, wines, bananas or sugar and you gets some gold too.
