I think we'll make another city to use that second rice and the jungled pigs which cannot be used by any city atm.

I'm in agreement that settling for the rice would be too aggressive. It would be many, many turns in any event before we could even culturally contest that rice tile. This city is going to be production poor and get hammers via whipping, so it would be a while before we could get much culture in there anyway via buildings. I think the safer route is better here, going with the current plan.

Agree with keeping rice city where it is. Agree with Novice moving fur city 1W. Maybe also move the sheep city 1W to the desert tile (yes off the coast) for better overlap and preventing sirian forks.

But I want to know if the scouting chariot survived the axe battle... if so we'll have a much better picture of the southern coast in just hours.

I disagree on moving yellow dot to the desert 1W of the coast. With us building GLH in Gourmet Menu, the coastal location is preferred. Also, IMO, the city would be better off working food neutral financial coast than losing access to those tiles for overlap purposes. By the time this location is settled we can build culture a turn or three (working a plains forest if nothing better is available) to force a border pop, so that isn't a huge concern, lessening the benefit from settling with the sheep first ring. As far as being forked by sea, I'd just give up this city in that event to protect the more important city in the north, Starfall. But, I'm confident we can scrape up sufficient units in that unlikely event. Let's settle where we get the most benefit from the city. To me, that's on the coast.

Having said that, I just KNOW we'll find a silver/marble/crabs location next turn with our SURVIVING WC. twirl

Like I said earlier, I think we need more map info before locking in anything but red dot.

If we do land the GLH, moving yellow 1S and black 1SE might make sense. It might make sense in any case to get more naval power.

Here are a bunch of high-level screenshots to give an idea of the current state of the expansion of the teams. Note that some land might have been claimed already - this goes back to when we last had visibility of a tile.

The land of us, CFC, and the Spanish. Note that CFC appears to have some decent backline to their sout

The area claimed by WPC, CFC, and Univers. There are four teams in contestion of that unclaimed central area, though I think Univers is by far the best placed team to grab the tiles, except in the very south (bordering CFC).

The German lands. Note the large area that still can be claimed by us, the Germans, or CivPlayers. There is easily place for four good cities between Ditchdigger and the coast.

The land of CivPlayers. Note how cramped they are to both the east and west.

Showing the extent of expansion for CivFr.

Based on the above, I think we have two main areas for expansion left: to our south (and southwest), and to our northwest. These are the choices:

I think the land quality speaks for itself. I think we should plan for a strong push for the northwest once we have settled Red dot (the city east of Seven Tribes). My (very tentative) take on spots is:

1NW of south gems (5W of Ditchdigger) - claims all the sugars and another marble.
2N of the wheat - coastal, and gets wheat and fish
1E of rice - gets most of the resources northwest of Ditchdigger
On plains spice - gets the second fish, and can share the rice
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we have an agreement with CivPlayers not to settle further west of the river? Also, I'd change your third city there to be 2E of the rice--picks up two more riverside grasslands at very little expense (besides having to wait for border pops for food I guess, but dry rice isn't fantastic anyhow--that city will really need those cows to grow fast either place).

We need to be ready to defend a push west if we decide to do so. I fully expect CivPlayers to declare once they realize what we're doing.
