RB PBEM #1 - Mehmed (SPOILERS!)

t57 - IW complete, start Civil Service (currently due in 13).

Worker (Marcia) completes in Edirne start Archer (due in 3t). Marcia heads West to improve the road between Edirne & Ankara, the Archer currently in Edirne also starts heading West.

Wanderer finds the Eastern edge of the Map - level with the location of Ruff's BFC.

NE Chariot uncovers a bit more land - I think I'l wait 1-2t before dotmapping the NE, so I can uncover the last of the area.

NW Archer reaches site of Orange Dot, while Chariot continues West - no borders in site of either, which is good news.

So here's the plan: Istanbul has 1t left on a Worker, it will then start a Settler which will complete of t61 with the chop underway. Ankara has 1t left on a Settler, it will then start on a Worker which after some details tile maagement will complete on t61. The existing Settler will reach the Orange Dot site on t61, and be able to found on t62.

Therefore I have a perfect window for revolution to HR/OR on t61. The alternative would be to wait until ~t80 when CS will complete and do a triple-switch ... but I want some buildings & Missionaries before then, so it wouldn't help to wait that long.

57 + 13 = 70, not 80. smile (Unless you mean that 13t is at unsustainable deficit pace.)

Yeah, I realised that last night in bed, but couldn't be bothered to get up and log on to correct myself!

Currently running at -6gpt at 100%. Fortunately, I still have 120+ hut gold remaining, so CS should burn me most of the way through that but still leave me a bit lft over.

Hammering out the details of the trade with mh:
Quote:Hi,
how about Currency for CoL & Polytheism?
Slightly in favor for you beaker wise, but then the religion at CoL is already gone.
What do you say?

mh
Quote:mh,

That seems reasonable, I'll agree to that trade. What is your ETA on Currency?

Dreylin II.
Poly is now just a turn or two of research for him with everyone else having it, so the deal isn't too bad. Plus, it opens up a route to trade him Monotheism later....

I also send and receive a quick ping to from athlete about Sailing:
Quote:athlete,

Did you decide to research Sailing, and if so what would be your ETA?

Dreylin
Quote:Yes I am. I have 3 more turns of IW than on to sailing.
Sailing should be a 2t tech after IW, so lets say ~t63 it should be available to trade.

Some communication with sooooo about religion spread:
Quote:Hi, just keeping in touch. I should have aesth in 3-4 turns.

You could describe me as an "untapped market" for one of your religions - are you planning on getting a shrine from your oracle? If you are, then maybe we could sort out a deal where you send me the appropriate missionary and I agree to spread it to my cities.

sooooo
Quote:sooooo,

Yeah part of the reasoning for the Oracle pursuit was for the Prophet points to get a shrine going ... sadly I'm not PHI, so it'll take a while...! Anyway, yes I'm sure we can come to an arrangement involving religious transfer. It's going to be a few turns until I have a build slot available for a Missionary, but if you're OK with waiting then I'll see what I can do. The other thing is that if you hook Corinth up to Death Valley - I'll be doing the same for Edirne - then we should get routes to each other, and there may be some natural spread (although that risks not being of the "chosen faith").

Thanks for the ETA on Aesthetics; I'm guessing you're going Literature after that ... though Construction has to be high on the agenda to get Odeons going?

Dreylin II.
Along with some good old-fashioned fishing. smile

I'm going to have to be careful, since I've already somewhat promised Ruff that I'll send him a Missionary and I should probably do that first before sending one over to sooooo. I think that after the switch to OrgRel, I'm going to have to have one city on Missionaries for a while to serve my own needs as well as everyone elses!

Chat with Ruff - discover I have already spread religion!
Quote:me: Hey Ruff, busy morning?

Ruff.Hi: yes and no
just wanted to say thank you for the Conf spread to DV ... even though you had nothing do to with it smile

me: Ah

Ruff.Hi: and I am roading that tile that should connect us

me: Gosh
Excellent
and athlete is researching Sailing smile
Shame it was Conf

Ruff.Hi: perfect timing actually ... as I had a chop go into that city and I was able to revolt to get the +25% hammers smile

me: Ah yes

Ruff.Hi: so I gained 5 hammers - woo hoo

me: I did wonder about you taking OrgRel with no religion....

Ruff.Hi: well - cost me nothing and there was an outside chance of me picking up religion soon
what is wrong with Conf?

me: Well you see now for a dedicated Hindu such as myself
...

Ruff.Hi: oh - are we going '-4' in our diplo relations now?

me: Heh
But there's only so many Shrines one can build.....
Speaking of, any plans for your Spy?

Argh, meeting to run to....
Chat again later

8 minutes

Ruff.Hi: Great Spy options are currently under considerations by the council. Any suggestions?
Interesting about the Spy; I just hope he doesn'tuse it to EP bomb me!

t58 - Settler and Worker (Brian) complete as anticipated, and Worker and Settler respectively are started - both due in 3t w/MM. Brian heads to the remaining grass river forest at Istanbul to start cottage next turn.

Wanderer starts retracing his steps back to sooooo's lands, while NE Chariot is probably 1t from revealing the blocked-off section of the NE.

Interesting discovery in the West, which will require communication with both mh & athlete and re-designing of the dotmap:

I send notes to both mh & athlete regarding the valley:
Quote:Hey athlete,

I see you've settled at the NW end of Banana Lake - 1W of the single-tile coastal Peak if I'm correct?

I see that mh is also in the area, and I would liketo get a city into the valley NE of your city and E of mh's. The best spot would probably end up competing with yours for the grass hill NW of the Peak ... would you have a big problem with that?

Dreylin II.
Quote:Hey mh,

Just spotted your borders at Vienna(?); looks like they will be expanding to claim the Pigs, correct? I must admit that I was hoping to get a city into that valley too, do you have any plans to settle further East?

Dreylin II.

I also send a note to sooooo about my Barb city:
Quote:sooooo,

I expect your Phalanx has noticed the Barbarian borders to his SW; I have future plans for this area, and would take it as a favour if you were to not assault it.

You may not have seen it yet, but there is also a salt-water lake running NS a few tiles to the West of your unit; by going directly West he would hit roughly the middle of it . There is only a 1-tile passage between the South of the Lake and the Southern border of the map, so you would have a long divertion before reaching anyone else's lands. If he headed NW though, he would soon met the confluence of athlete, mh & I - our "Death Valley" if you will - and be able to pass into and explore their lands.

Dreylin II.
Trying to encourage him to turn NW by pointing out the round-about route to the South. Get a very brief reply:
sooooo Wrote:Thanks, I'll bear this in mind.
