basically the same thing, although he may have markets in some cities and almost certainly has no theatres. if he refuses I may cancel our current deal and re offer as one big package, just to emphasize he's already getting a lopsided deal from us (furs for banana).

ok, this sucked. an archer attacked out and killed our injured mace. wasn't expecting that. Do vanilla archers always have a free first strike, or is that a rbmod thing? never noticed it before. so I killed it while it was outside the city here, and promoted to CR AFTER the attack. ill raze the city next turn (1 archer left), and found rama's journey 1N the turn after. I did move the axe in mahabrata to the tile the settler is on here, just in case the mace gets unlucky. he has an unused promo and can get cover if needed.

yay. ok not much of a defense. the key will be too surprise him when he doesnt have military passing through here. im going to squeeze in a second galley where I can, and probably dump 3 maces and a spear (maybe 2 and 2?) on the hill mine here. also a HA will join in the attack on iron maiden, and can split off and attack here as well if needed. razing presets will be a nice bonus smile.

really not impressed with what azza has done with his beuro capital:

the cottages are more developed than I expected, but it should be size 14+ (he could get more happy if he needed it).

Serdoa and us are currently #1 and #2 in soldiers. looks like we'll pass him before too long. this is despite the fact serdoa has a massive MFG lead on us (I believe he's #1 in the world) - but I guess he's building banks and courthouses and grocers atm. Mahabrata is pretty lightly defended, unfortunately, which scares me - but he has graphs on us so I'm hoping when he's ready for war he'll pick an easier target (brick, xenu, and azza all have tight borders) or the leader commodore. actually his high MFG cities border azza so it would be nice if he decided to declare right before we did, hehe.

actually our MFG is starting to look quick nice compared to everyone except serdoa and commodore (I'm assuming #2 is commodore). not in a rush to start the war, we are outproducing azza so the longer we build up the more overpower a force we'll have. plus I'm not scared by pike's or trebuchets wink.

oh, I didn't even notice that, haha.
btw, we should get vision on muse next turn (and inspect city on wombats, but that won't mean much). and vision on all azza's cities in 5 turns or so (well in 3 turns according to the espionage screen, but I don't trust that). Im going to cap eps at 700, then get graphs on commodore, plako, and scooter (in that order).

took my 94% odds here and won. next turn rama's journey will be founded, although it will be 2 more turns until its connected to the road network. we'll see what heathen religion gets spread here that will force me to build another missionary wink. (I'm hoping Christianity). Axe returned to popol. mace will promote to CR2, heal in rama, then head to popol to prepare for invading azza. have an archer in route to replace him, and a workboat from song of roland for the fishies (both 5 turns away). worker labor will be scare for a bit, I'm going to try to force 2 workers up here soon.

Interpol, below, is one of only 4 cities we don't have vision on (3 island cities plus the canal city that borders serdoa's capital). we should have vision on those in 3-4 turns.

I wonder if azza has any military on his border with serdoa? he seems to have stacked everything in A7x and iron maiden. warrior only in muse and tenacious D, archer in living end and presets.
ok, so I'm thinking I'll build a 2nd galley out of el cid since there will be several nice targets. by taking the northern route, I'll be able to hit tenacious D, muse, or 12 foot ninja, or support an attack on the presets (depending on which he chooses to defend). still working out the details. not in a hurry to attack before all flanks are ready, as we are massively out producing azza militarily, so time is on our side.
also note the great scientist moved from presets to tenacious D. Is he planning an academy? That would be a terrible choice, tenacious D is not really that good of a capital. he might join the city, I guess.

speaking of military, serdoa flashed an archer:

not sure what to think of this. maybe he's settling on the gems? I was thinking I would like to eventually settle on the western desert tile to grab gems and wines, and borrow rice from popol - but thats not possible for a long while now and in the mean time was hoping for a demilitarized no mans land here. well we will see.

I got to think serdoa, who has our graphs, will be looking for an easier target, if he plans to go to war:

we will pass him in power very soon for #1 worldwide. im ok with temporarily harming our economy (we're down to -12 at 50% research) as we have a strong economy regardless and that will correct itself once we finish up with azza.

ok, here are some neat city micros:

with the overflow I should be able to 1 turn this mace - then I'll be able to produce something like 3 maces every 4 turns smile. combine that with a mace every 2 turns in gilgamesh, and a mace every 4-6 turns out of king arthur, the odyssey, and the aeneid - you can see why I don't mind building up and hitting azza with overwhelming force smile. his military production is nowhere near this.

ok, if I left maha working the lake tile, the library would have 89/90 hammers after 3 turns frown. so I switched to the marble for 1 turn, then back to the lake to compete library and grow to size 5 in 2 turns. the first turn of the barracks a chop comes in, which should complete it in 1 turn - then we pump out military for a bit to keep serdoa honest. I have a spear completing in song of roland to move here in the mean time.
thats 3 turns for this library - I'll be able to whip the library in shah next turn, so it will complete one turn before this one. that means free meditation and I'll turn research back on and plow through philosophy smile.

ok, king arthur has been our runt filler city frown. the library so far has been pretty useless except for culture.
anyway, in 2 turns I'll 1 pop whip the 6th pop off, overflow into another mace. the next turn the chop from the forest 1E of the city square will come in, allowing the 2nd mace here to be 1 turned smile.

the fort near the odyssey only needs 1 more turn now, so Im thinking of having that worker mine the hill on azzas border, with a token military force defending him (something like 1 mace 1 spear, I dunno). the idea is too tempt him to attack first to capture the worker. probably wouldnt work, but if he did the worker is expendable - would be worth it to draw him out of iron maiden, which would make the invasion much easier. i've been hiding most of my maces (except for the 1 in king arthur) a pace behind the city so he doesnt know the size of my military - he doesnt have graphs on us or city vision thanks to our huge EP lead, so he's really having to guess (I think). he might be fooled into thinking we're focusing on economic growth?? I dunno, but worth trying.

btw, for some reason I can't figure out no one we have met has paper yet. the only thing I can figure is that slowcheetah has had it for awhile, and they all just gave up liberalism to him(pretty sure everyone ahead of us in score + scooter has met serdoa. us + azza may be the only ones that haven't met him yet). too bad we're still a good 20-30 turns from getting the trieme to make contact w/ him. maybe we'll get lucky and meet one of his ships half way!

if we detoured for the music great artist, the only thing standing in our way of using it to partially bulb nationalism is theology frown. but of course if we research that, then divine right will be unlocked, which makes it not worth it frown. I don't get why theology or divine right are great artist techs frown. so close to making the music detour worth it! :/

I'd guess Serdoa's archer is just to make sure your ever-increasing power isn't pointed in his direction, he gets a pretty good warning if you send anything his way from there. I'd move him NW and just sit on that hill if I was Serdoa.

Disclaimer: If he settles your way in a couple of turn's time I was drunk.

Oh, and do you need the library in Maha in four turns? Are you turning science back on then? How much does delaying a turn hurt? If not the overflow would just mean the barracks and units come out faster and more surprisingly...

yeah you're right, the archer is still sitting on the gems hill. probably just to give him better vision and discourage us from settling the gems/desert no mans land we have at the moment. well, good, maybe he'll feel secure on our front and go to war with one of his other neighbors again. Maybe even azza <G>.

we got a 44 point increase between turns, despite only 2 cities growing (roland 6>7, and nigelbund 1>2). enough to make me worry I accidently left research on and finished drama too early.
Turns out heroic epic gives a bigger score increase than I realized smile.

yes, you do. This is hard for me to judge, it would help if you could log in and give me your opinion.

I wouldnt mind waiting 10 turns, but with the pace gilgamesh and maths are spitting out maces now, that will cause a major hit on our economy. But, we'll have overwhelming force smile. but it will make our nationalism plans difficult. its a hard balance and im not really sure what to do about it.

if we attack sooner, we'll probably be ok on the iron maiden front, but we'll have maybe 2 maces on the eastern front, only 1 galley w/ maces out of el cid, and 1 galley coming from the oddysey (vs 2 galleys fully loaded in both). so the 3 secondary fronts could use a few more turns.
