I was referring to the game layout, not the graphics. The topography worked like Sim city 2000, and movement was slower uphill. There's hills with trees, then bare rocky flanks, then ice covered peaks. Those points for highest mountain mean your explorer unit has to spend 5-6 turns to get to the top! It was all pretty advanced for the time. All buldings fully animated and whatnot. It does become too easy in the lategame, as your generals ('leaders') get more XP for more attacks and soldier slots. The ships also upgrade to carry more dudes, and soon sea-based invasions become pretty trivial compared to Civ series. Still many fond memories. Sorry Brick, if you had other plans tonight. ![]() (April 4th, 2013, 16:22)SevenSpirits Wrote: First issue is, [...]well respecing definitely will be possible, but the player will loose bonuses of the previous spec. metallurgy is a bad example. i was thinking more of stub techs. obviously any player should be able to reach the end of the tech tree without specing. yes, a trade mechanism would be fabulous. there should be no forcing to spec. it should be optional. those choosing to spec will get some nice bonuses here and there for the extra edge. promotes variety and espionage. espionage works if there is something to hide.

I remember after a time we stopped doing the full game and just made combat scenarios (the 4x3 grid) to play multi-player w/ my roommates in college. fun stuff.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
