I asked for the pm template from a sense of fair play. But I guess it's fair game to bring up then since you're now attacking me for it.
My role PM says I'm The Village Neighbour. Note "the" and "village". When I quiz you about it you say you're "a town neighbour". You put it in quotes so you weren't paraphrasing.
I have to run.

Yeah, because a role that the GM was trying to maintain some ambiguity over the number of would definitely use wording that implies that it's a singular role.
If you're going to make your role like that, at least do it in a believable fashion...

make up your role like that *
I also like the dropping of capitalisation from my role, to help reinforce that I was making it up.

I posted that from the phone, that's why the capitalization was wrong.
If I understand you correctly you say I'm lying when I state that my role PM calls me "The Village Neighbour"?
I must say your attack on me feels like when a scum is caught by a seer and has no choice but to accuse the seer of lying. You're not considering that we might both be town, and you're not considering that TheStick could have messed up the role PMs.

Novice I really dislike the role template demand. Feels crazy to ask for a cheat sheet of all the roles. That makes it really easy for scum to win the game. I also like matti's point that a GM removing ambiguity from a role seems weird.

But Novice , it could also match someone claiming hes a certain role and someone telling him hes lying.

Well Matt's attack on novice is interesting and probably the first bit honest something or other I'm getting from him.
Novice's vote on me after I voted for Matt had made me start to think of a connection there as well as Jkaen's vote for me, which, btw, was definitely not random even though he tries to backpedal and say every early vote is "considered random or a joke" which is a huge cop out Jkaen. I specifically voted for Matt and my vote was definitely not a joke or random.
I don't much like novice's vote on me to "protect" matt only to turn on him, out and him try to lynch him. Maybe something happened in the neighbor thread, maybe not. I think trying to vote based on the specific role PM words is folly. In which case I'd prefer to vote for neither for the moment.
Instead I'll re-pursue Jkaen. For now.
I do not think we should lynch Azza or Qg. I think we should wait for more information on Matt and novice.
Uberfish weigh in.
And I think we should vote me for Mayor.

Are we allowed to talk in here yet? I note there's no game thread currently.

I asked thestick the same thing via PM. No reply yet.

I'm just going to take this: "Role PMs now out. Please remain publicly silent." as permission to be privately noisy.
So, neighbours again, Mattimeo? Not much to plan, but like last time, let's try to be good townsmen so that we can save the claim for later, when a couple of confirmed innocents can be a big deal, especially in an 11-player game.
Sorry about messing up last game, by the way.
As for this game, I've never been mislynched so I hope I can manage that this game too without having to go for the role claim early. I don't think I'll be nightkilled either, since my scumdar has been really off lately. Knowing another player's alignment could hopefully make the scumhunting slightly easier.
I don't really think I'm entitled to give you any advice on how to play your game, but I'll give one piece of advice anyway: Be slightly more assertive, and shout "snap out of it" at me when I'm being an idiot.

Damnit, as soon as I saw 'neighbour' I got paranoid about the fact it was not 'mason', and the fact you're not is making me slightly worried...
Odds do favour you being town, though, so hopefully it is just paranoia
Agreed that saving the claim is going to be more useful than putting it out there immediately. If we *are* both town, a mason claim would just draw scum shots. And if we're confident enough about each other, a late claim could turn the tide, as you say.
I'll always take advice, given in a positive manner. I might not act on it, but I'll take it
(also, if I'm being too quiet, yell at me. I know I do lurk too much, and someone calling me out on it will usually engender a response)

Wow, I fail already. Yeah, a neighbour is not a mason. I just thought "mason" since my PM didn't mention alignments.
Bah, we drew the short straws on abilities, then.

It's not too bad. Private communication does tend to allow a better read, so if we can get strong town reads on each other we can treat it as masons.
On the other hand, if you're scum and make an egregious slip here, getting you lynched after confirming neighbour status would pretty much give me meta-confirmed town status
(still hoping for the former, though. I'm rather biased towards those who I've been in conversation with, so if you're scum I'm probably the worst person to pick it in a situation like this)

I feel the Lewwyn vote and the justification given in that post may have been a tad blatant...
Good reasoning given when challenged after the fact, though

Hey, it was my reasoning before the fact, too.

...and now the quote thestick is using as his sig is getting me paranoid about there *actually* being 4 scum, and we're supposed to be masons to make 5-4 tomorrow remotely feasible.
No. Bad brain. Paranoia is not constructive.

Wouldn't thestick have told us by now if we were supposed to be masons?
I just reread my role PM and I'm wondering - is there anything in the opening sentence of your role PM that would make you suspect me?

Other than the use of 'Neighbour', and the subsequent lack (in the rest of the PM) of anything specifically fingering you as town?
No.
That being the case, I'm more inclined to believe you town than scum. At the level of everyone else playing, at a minimum.
You're also an opportunity to share my insane, mostly impractical ideas with, without requiring them to be posted in the main thread - I've seen how well that generally works for the likes of Tasunke and Ryan...

What's your role name then, Mattimeo? How is it described?
Any scum reads from the game thread? Uber and Lewwyn seem to be attacking you from two different angles...

...you're just doing this to get the correct format for yourself, aren't you
"You are a Town Neighbour"
then some fluff about coming into possession of a functioning radio.
Azza wanting to policy lynch the miller really doesn't sit well with me.
uber's suspicion seem to be at both of us, for the way you 'defended' me. Does seem somewhat interesting that he'd focus on me, rather than Ryan of Gazglum, given his initial stated reasoning for the vote.
Lewwyn seems Lewwyn, to be honest. I can't read him Day 1.
Will chuck in some more when I get back from work.
What're your views thus far?

I'll address the rest of this later, but
@Ryan: novice isn't asking for a template of roles, he's asking for the standard villager role pm which is usually provided for games where there are vanilla roles.
See ww19 if you don't believe me.which I find to be a stupid reason to pursue someone.
Why he wants it is a different kettle of fish, and likely centres around town/village wordplay...

Just to be clear as well about Matt and novice. I'm now voting for neither because I find them both suspicious.
