The stick basically saying that your the only town neighbour just feels to far fetched to be honest.

Yeah I don't know why you find that train of events so damning...

So would I if something didn't match...so did you.

Yeah this argument is stupid. meta based, and pulls at tiny strands expecting a web.
I plan on ignoring this novice, as I think its a distraction to the village.

Mattimeo

There is one main factor which has swayed me, but I do not wish to elaborate just yet.

Ok, defense wise I don't see anything to defend, Lewwyn is self defense voting essentially and azza is jumping on a possible easdy bandwagon, just because I stated the reasoning (or lack of) behind an early vote. Picking on the word Random rather than what 'initial' 'opening' 'tentative' whatever seems dumb.

The other thing I don't like is how early Novice claimed Neighbour, I can't see any need for it (Infact I struggle to believe we already have 4 (35%) roles claimed this early on in the match, are we purposly trying to make it easy on the wolves?

That is almost as frustrating as Zak's clue dropping last game. I hope there is a good reason for the vagueness soon

I want to see if anyone else notices the pretty major sticking point.

Something's wrong with your alignment, Novice. tongue

You've got a good point with the copy/paste thing, though. It's strange that you would receive so different role PMs if you were both town. On the other hand, you apparently went from reading a role PM with the words "You are The Village Neighbour" to thinking you were a mason, which also sounds pretty strange. Still, you didn't pay so much attention to your role PM last game, either.

Anyway, I'm not so sure about waiting for power roles to resolve this. Lots of things can go wrong with that, and the alignment of one doesn't prove anything conclusively about the other, anyway. Plus, declaring in advance where our power roles will be focusing their attention probably isn't so wise. It feels a bit strange that everybody is suddenly trying to be extra cautious, on day 1, when there is finally something like a real clue on the table. It's not like we'd risk lynching a strong power role.

So I think we should either take the plunge, or maybe lynch someone who refuses to do so. smile

I think Novice has done a decent job outlining how Mattimeo's play here could make sense as scum. In particular, the counterattack feels like a bit of a knee-jerk. So I'd like to hear Mattimeo try the same exercise with Novice.
If you know what I mean.

ok, catching up

1) I was actually looking at mattimeo+novice as a potential scum pair before their claim because of the way Novice defended Mattimeo. However given their current fight this is now extremely unlikely, I just don't see scum picking on each other over the wording of role PMs that don't actually exist. I still find mattimeo the more suspicious of the two (I also find his use of the word "bussed" in reference to himself in the neighbour thread posted by Novice to be suspicious) but I am not convinced by the wording argument. Since if role PMs gave one of them "the" and one of them "a", then Thestick has clearly messed up his wording but that's not an alignment tell.

2) I hate this "we should policy lynch the miller" argument but I don't think azza is scummy for it. We certainly aren't going to treat Q as cleared but that doesn't mean we have to lynch him over more suspicious targets.

3) I'm inclined to believe Azza's role claim as it stands. Also my guess is this role could be thestick's way of getting the scum count to effectively 2.5/11 (more in line the normal ratios of 2/9 and 3/13) if exactly one of azza/puppetmaster is scum. Actually I have a slight town lean on Azza for stating (correctly) that his role is a liability and being willing to policy lynch himself in this case.

I also don't think you have a lot to defend because the scum tells are indefensible. My vote is not self defense voting and to categorize it as such is IMO another scum tell.

Role claiming is actually harder on the wolves in a small game like this, at least that's what I felt last game. I'm not claiming mine because I don't advocate a full role claim, but roles like miller and puppet are definitely good to preemptively claim before they cause more trouble for the village. Novice claiming neighbor makes sense because Mattimeo is on the block.

Again your post does not inspire any confidence in your innocence.
