Well the British side was a national secret for quite a long while if I remember right, so I don't know if he was actually able to keep the allied medal.

He got both I believe. He met his German handler after the war and was given his German medal before faking his own death with the help of his British colleagues.

I looked back thru the tracking thread to find all diplo with WPC:

NAP and initial idea: "Our teams can plan a fair division of Incan lands between our nations considering the positions of our nations. We will keep the Incan nation in check until we have the catapults and your NAP with them would be over."

We reply with interest: "Your plan to aim for catapults sounds like a very good idea, so I hope it works out for your team. I'm not sure of what we can do for you right now off the top of my head, but if you think of a way we can be of use to you, please let me know!"

...The plan:
- WPC will research the necessary tech for catapults, and then proceed to build large enough amount of catapults for both attacking teams.
- RB will research and build up their army as they see fit for the attack on the Incan nation.
- The amount of catapults built by WPC will be divided equally between the RB-Inca and WPC-Inca fronts, so plan your army size and composition accordingly.
- The Incan lands would be divided between the RB and WPC in a robust manner taking the positions of our nations into account. (i.e. RB would get the southern cities, WPC would get the northern cities -- regardless of the city size) We have no desire to quarrel over few tiles.

...I just wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know that we have received and are considering your message.

The overall reception to your team's proposal is definitely positive. We would like to see the German team removed from the game, and we like the T150 window pretty well. We do trust you guys enough that we can divide workload + cities up pretty fairly, so that's not a major issue either.

Our clever builders with freakishly enlarged craniums have made some further calculations.
We think that we can provide at least 5 catapults at YOUR disposal at that point. This number may increase... perhaps.
More units could be provided steadily in the following turns.

...We were thinking it might be better if you keep your catapults, and we turn this into a true two-prong attack.

...Can we mutually agree that any potential peace deal with the German team must include the approval of both your team and ours?

...Great, glad we're in agreement and moving the same direction! We'll definitely want to discuss the finer details as the date gets closer, but for now T150 is quite a ways away. We will be planning with an eye on that date.

Would you be interested in us spreading our religion to your capital?

And then things spin quickly in the direction of mis sion ary stuff, with no mention of war

I'm pretty sure they still think we're going to split the German lands in something approaching 50/50. But the key is here:

We're pretty darn sure we're going to do more of the "workload" i.e. capturing of cities. So we have a solid base for keeping what we catch.

Not like the buildings will even survive capture. And late game, with Bio and State Prop and Workshops, any land can be productive.

I'm not sure if Scooter saw this in the C&D thread, but here is some food for future diplomacy:

On the diplomatic front, I found the following trades:

CFC sends wine to WPC
CivFr sends sugar to Apolyton
Univers sends stone to Apolyton, for 7gpt
Apolyton sends wheat to CivFr

I think the stone-for-gold deal is so Apolyton can get Moai built quickly, but the wheat-for-sugar deal is interesting. If we notice that tension rises between Apolyton and CivFr, then we can give Apolyton gems or spices on the condition that they stop sending wheat to CivFr. With their very large cities, CivFr probably has run into trouble with health.

Also interesting that WPC is getting free wine from CFC. Looks like they have another patron state standing by if (when) we aren't their friends anymore. That might well be around t155 when the German war turns badly against them. Lets make sure we extend the CFC NAP before that happens.

Can I interest you guys in some marble for the Taj?

Thank you for your hindu missionary and the barb warning, our scholars currently discuss with him his teachings in our capital.

The marble is not hooked up because it is located directly at the former and likely future frontline between us and WPC, a place far too dangerous for our workers in the past.
As we experience currently a period of peace, the inca build caste has made it an priority task to hook it up and be ready to trade it to you.

We would be interested in trading it with you versus gems, but we wonder whether you by any chance would be interested in another deal.

Our food does not taste like food for warriors should taste and our people are looking for spices.
How about trading marble against spices and you add the favor to remove the jungle from the gems north west from your town ditchdigger for us ?
