Any interest for a new PBEM (EITB)

That's probably true, although in my last game (PBEM3) we didn't have that many problems setting up blitzes. I understand that isn't the case for all games though.

What do the rest of you guys think? How likely are you all able to attend blitz sessions? If we can't then we may need some other form of a boost.

WK 0-12
sian 11-20
yellow 18-22
black sword 21-23
jalepeno 18-2
HK 23-3

With first in the order randomized of course.

seeing yellow's times made me realize I did the time zone math backwards (we're both in Germany). I'm in GMT +1, can play 17-01, so that means 16-24 GMT. I think the revised order should be:

WK 0-12
sian 11-20
yellow 18-22
jalepeno 16-24
black sword 21-23
HK 23-3

I can blitz pretty much any weekend except april 27-28; I'm traveling to the US 23-28. Since that's the very time we'd probably want to be blitzing, perhaps we should have some sort of boost (starting shade, or adept a la XI).

That's what I'm starting to think we should do as well. Let's all just vote on boosting options.

I would prefer:

1.Adept
2.Shade
3.No boost

I'd still prefer lush starts though. If there's another boosting option available that I've missed, let's hear it.

Centaur slave...not too much of a nerf to those without worker techs, and interesting too.

Yeah doubt we'll have a single one tbh.
Well a PBEM takes at least half a year. I don't see where this is a problem though.

One option is to roll maps with Blessing of Amathaon (doubling boni) giving you a lush land all over.

I don't know about Blessings of Amathaon, that boosts the whole game rather than just the start. I've played some SP with it but I felt it made city positioning a bit too easy and with all the extra resources could make trade less relevant.

I'd probably prefer the shade if anything, though that adept sounds like an interesting idea.

I can usually make blitzs at least one day of a weekend, my football schedule can be unpredictable sometimes though.

IIRC Blessings of Amatheon is bugged and doesn't place certain resources. Fixing that sounds like more work for the mapmaker than just giving us a little extra near the starts.

I vote for the free shade and lush starts.

I vote against starting with a worker or even a slave: just too much of a boost to civs that start with agriculture.

Wouldn't mind trying the 3-spell adept, but I think it would drastically alter the game (probably would want to choose a civ around it, for example). Abstain.

As for blitzes: in a six player game with timezones all over the place, I agree with Yell0w that they're unlikely to work well. (I'm not opposed to trying some weekend, though.)

Solid reasoning, OK I'll change my vote to this.

BTW, what did we agree on about mirror maps? Merovech did say he would only have time to create a mirrored map, so if we want something else we need a new mapmaker. He also hasn't posted in this thread after the initial offer. Perhaps someone should PM him?

Merovechs been really busy lately, but I think you should accept him, as I really doubt that anyone is willing/available to make a balanced map.
I can of course roll you one, but I think you should be happy with what mero is offering, rather then seeking something likely impossible.

Of course. I'm not suggesting that we replace him as mapmaker. However he haven't heard from him since his initial offer, and since we decided on starting screenshots before picking there really isn't a whole lot more to do before the map is made.
