Run away?

If TEAM declares, we drop off all our Zerks there (maybe trading our triremes with Trolls' to see if we can take White Russian)--otherwise we run fast and start negotiating peace (and possibly a concession)

Pirates sent this last night:
Quote:We are paranoid that Tasunke is going to invade us instead of Trolls, since when we asked him about invading Trolls he responded that he didn't want to. How hard did Tasunke pledge that he'd support you?

So I just replied like this:
Quote:He hasn't guaranteed he'll attack, but his NAP with Trolls ran out last turn and if he attacks you we'll be asking Trolls for peace and trying to point them in his direction.

Of course he might not play the turn at all...

I don't think that that's sensitive information.

Yeah, that reply is fine. If Tasunke attacks the Pirates, then Plako can focus everything against us and it's gg. I really hope he doesn't do that.

Tasnuke played--but no declaration either way frown

Apparently Tas didn't play. Maybe he'll declare next turn, in any case I think we'd still want to pillage the deer and run away with the fleet this turn!

I'm logged in now, will make those moves after I've done the city micro.

Turn 146

With Optics we have an extra square of vision over the ocean and what do we see? Land! Two turns to circumnavigation. (Oh and we can attack M3 if we want to now...)

War weariness means we have anger in Occam and Dirk, I'm tempted to put a knight in Occam until an MP chariot can get there next turn, but the only loss is 4 hammers, so I've sent him to the front line.

I've moved our fleet away from the caravels, if they come after us we could perhaps double back to Weissbier and raze the MOM? Naginata won't get trade routes until we sign open borders with Trolls, kill On The Rocks or research Astronomy. Hmmm.

At WIFOM the stack is on the deer, which we'll pillage next turn. There is a chance of units coming out of the fog to the north, and taking the workers, but I don't rate it very highly.

Strategic question - I've been holding off whipping in the hope of rebuilding the economy in the wake of our Troll war. If Tas had attacked this turn that would have given us the info we need to decide if we need to do this. But he didn't. Because he missed the turn totally. I wish our exploring warrior was nearer to TEAM territory so that we could see which border he's putting his army on.

Power - Tas must be planning something...

Score - we've made Trolls flatline for the last few turns while we've gone up in the world, but if we can't get a favourable peace with them I don't see it continuing.

Do we want to start peace talks with Trolls? I certainly wouldn't accept anything until TEAM takes action, either by responding to us or declaring on someone, but I don't see any harm in starting negotiations now :/

I don't think we need to whip unless we think we can take more cities by doing so--or if we need to defend against a Trolls invasion frown

I mean this war didn't go horribly for us--we took a city, razed a city, took a couple workers, and forced Trolls to draft out an army. If we can get one more city for peace I'd even say it was a success, and that's not even counting any gains we could make if TEAM enters the picture.

I think we need to give tasunke one more turn to declare, then make a decision. We get circumnav in two turns if Trolls don't get there first, and the extra movement may give us more options.

I think Trolls will probably take peace, how long do we want it to last?

Just had time for a quick peek in the save this morning. Got this from HAK:

Trolls have a stack on Katana's doorstep (we have two longbows, a pike and a warrior). Unfortunately the pike means we can't hit it with the knight up north:

While WIFOM only has four maces, two chariots and a horse archer. Have they got a big stack of maces in reserve? They can't move the 11 threatening Katana back in time to stop us. So I'll move the stack back onto the gold and see what the Troll negotiating position is.

So do we try to sign peace? I haven't heard back from Tasunke yet.
