Courthouse there.

we got a decent score bump from completing national epic - starting to catch up with serdoa and plako (almost).. if we can land sistene and the taj anyway will come close.
w/ no feedback I think I'll stick w/ the theater in Shahnahmeh. I think we're going to have to race to nationalism before slowcheetah gets liberalism, which may be soon if he turns back on the research and we'll need the golden age asap. w/ the theater I can pump out 30 GPP a turn which is right in line w/ when we'll need it. actually may have the last few turns of the golden age after we research it, allowing the production to be quicker. theater will also allow me to build a much need courthouse before the market. after the first GP for golden age I won't be in a rush to get a second GPP, so I can work an engineer only for awhile to try to get us decent on an engineer... he'll be very useful for building wall street down down the road - wall street will be much needed, but so expensive with no 2x modifier and twice the cost of oxford.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
Theatre's fine too since it is so cheap.

yeah I posted that before seeing your reply. but I think w/ overflow I can probably 2 turn a theatre w/ no whipping. or I might 1 turn whip it to overflow into courthouse if I can reach 8 pop in time. But I'll definitely save the market for last, we do need the courthouse in there quickly.

religious wars are fun. especially when you have much more happies than your opponent:
azza has a +1 we refuse to fight out brothers of the faith, which is causing the unhappy here. he has a gold source that he's trading away to scooter, not sure why he doesnt cancel that deal. im pretty sure we'll take his only source of iron when A7x comes out of revolt (we still have 14 culture in the city, so I'm pretty sure we'll get first ring borders). he is currently trading copper away to xenu - im hoping xenu asked for that trade when he gave iron to brick for his city back, which would mean it will be a few turns before azza can cancel it, I think. of course azza will have feudalism and longbows in 6-7 turns. oh well. I failed at my novice impresssion: I have no idea what happenned here. the city has 10 foods. the granary was built before we grew, which means even if I hadnt added any food I should have 11 food. I had saved up 4 food from the deer, and had a +6 food excess from the fish, so I should have 21 food, allowing me to grow to size 3 in 1 turn. I guess for some reason the granary didn't take, but I really have no idea why :/ started settler here for the canal city. I'll 3 pop whip it next turn, found it immediately and have a chop coming in the turn it is founded to complete the granary (then walls). I had to get out a calculator to do the micro here (ok, the windows calculator... who uses a real one anymore??). if I hire 3 specialists, I get a great person in 11 turns with 6GPP overflow. the theatre takes 4 turns to complete. If I hire 2 specialists only and work the workshop, the theatre completes in 3 turns, the great person is still birthed in 11 turns (on the dot, 300 GPP exactly) - but I grow 2 turns sooner, complete the theatre and start the courthouse 1 turn sooner. and the 6GPPP overflow isn't really a benefit, as I plan to only work an engineer after the first GPP to maximize our chances of getting an engineer for wall street. If I do a courthouse first, it takes 14 turns to birth the GPP. I really think those 3 turns could mean the difference between us getting Taj or not. so theatre first it is. and working 2 GP for 3 turns is a no brainer. ok, so commodore started a golden age and revolted to caste and pacifism. this is scary :/. we're at #3 if we switch to 100% science. slowcheetah turned on his research and is probably #1. But commodore is at least #2, at 0% science . yup, thats 483 gpt. YUCK! anyway, commodore and slowcheetah are both gearing up to race for liberalism, so thats almost certainly out for us. with our pending golden age I'm hoping we still have a shot for the direct nationalism path. if commodore goes straight for nationalism instead of lib, we of course have no chance at that either. I'm hoping he goes for liberalism and gets barely beat by slowcheetah . slowcheetah is no an IND civ (commodore is). I don't remember if he has marble, but commodore does. anyway, back to Azza - so Azza is trying to trap us. there's a third trieme not shown near his 3 city island. probably more coming up. there's a galley in Muse. The blockade wasn't really doing much damage. he doesnt lose his trade routes in rbmod, so really all it was doing was denying 1 food to presets from the fish (since I pillaged it already). I want to retreat towards el cid to pick up more navies and more troops. I figured this might be the last time I see an isolated trieme. I have 32% odds, why not take the 1 for 1 trade and hope to get lucky? SUCCESS!! thats 1 less trieme to worry about, and no loss . we only need 2 more experience to birth a great general, btw. What to do with him?

Commodore is CRE/PRO.
You're thinking of pitboss 9
Erebus in the Balance - a FFH Modmod based around balancing and polishing FFH for streamlined competitive play.
oh yeah.. Its Plako and Serdoa that are IND's
thats great news then, even if we land nationalism after one of them libs it, we should have a good chance at the taj

In Civ4 you get whatever food has been stored in the granary when you grow. Every food surplus you produce gets stored in the granary until its full. It's full when it has half the food box worth of food. Say you completed the granary at 12/22 food. Working the fish you produce +5 food the next turn and end up at 17/22 food, with 5 food in the granary. Next turn you grow to 22/22 food with 10 food in the granary. The city grows to size 2, and the 10 food from the granary is put back in the food box, which thus ends up at 10/24. You got almost full value out of your granary in that case. This illustrates why the rule of thumb is to complete the granary before the food box is half full, because that lets you fill up the granary to capacity before growing. Because overflow food also counts towards filling the granary, you can stretch the "half full" limit somewhat. Say you completed the granary at 16/22 food. You can still work +5 food for two turns and fill 10 food into the granary. At the end of the second turn your city has 26/22 food, so you get the 10 granary food plus the four overflow food and end up at 14/24 at size 2.
I have to run.

Speaking of mechanics, this is entirely dependent on how much tile culture Azza has on the tiles in question. If Azza had expanded borders in A7x, it's unlikely that you'll claim the first ring borders with just 14 culture in the city, at least not the tiles that are furthest from your other cities.
