ouch what happened here, since when Novice its that agresive?

He's probably just laying the groundwork for future farmer's gambits. smile

I still think he's a builder at heart, which is why I'm hoping he'll retreat now and build on his land and pop lead.

Part of the reason he rushed me was perhaps that he didn't have anything else to build...

Apologies for the long lull in reporting. I wanted to make a big report to celebrate our strong position and renewed optimism, but I was busy murdering innocent villagers and pursuing various other activities, and kept getting sidetracked.

Anyway, I'll take the easy way out and just post a video from the most recent meeting in the command bunker.

That was really good.

Thanks! It was fun to put it together, but there was a lot of fiddling to get the subtitles correctly synchronized. The program I used (VideoPad) was either buggy or extremely unintuitive. (So if anyone knows a better free alternative, feel free to suggest it.)

I'll post an actual in-game screenshot too, even though it's depressing.

Looks like I will be able to get a few horse archers out before he hits me again, so I should be able to eke out some kind of existence. But I'm really far behind. Or at least, Novice is really far ahead. I bet he's found the stone island and is gunning for the pyramids, and thus he'll be happy to play defense for a while. I could try to recapture Comoros (the isthmus city) but I'm not sure that's the most efficient use of resources. It may be necessary to have any chance of reining him in, though.

I also had a skirmish with Dazed, who frustratingly kept moving his galley into my waters, so I had to whip a second one. And when I hit him, my first galley got in too many hits, so that my second only got 1 XP from cleaning up. So I didn't even get a promotion on my second galley. He also landed a warrior that I killed with an archer. So that was kind of a pointless drain on both of us, from my point of view.

I plan to settle the stone island with the settler I'm finishing now. Not a very productive city, but it will rake in money, is relatively easy to defend, and needs no worker labor.

Yeah, just found that one Zak, it was absolute gold! Did you show Novice, or are you waiting for him to read it in your lurker thread after he rides to victory over the ruins of your civ?

What about turtling up and culture crushing PITA? It's good to have goals.

My near term goal is to build some highly promoted horse archers. The video kind of gives that away so I haven't shown it to him yet. I'll probably be going up against 40% defenses soon, so a counterattack might not be viable. But we'll see.

I have a feeling he'll be showing up with construction, catapults, and odeons soon but I really have no clue as I'm not even doing rudimentary C&D.

Judging by the power graph, Novice isn't letting his guard down. He might even be planning to hit me again.

My first two horse archers completed at EOT. I also have a couple of cottages (!) now.

I wish I'd pick up another religion spread soon. My only one so far was to Comoros, the city that got captured. frown

Novice moved a couple of units out of Pita. No idea what that means. Maybe they left on a boat.
