[SPOILERS] Lewger goes for the Bigwyn

azza's attacks:

azza had 8 cats in position, so i was expecting the attack - which is why i moved every unit possible into A7x, including starving aeneid to rush the crossbow in. we had more units to defend than azza had non-cat units to attack, plus many of them had fortify bonuses, so he really didn't have much of a chance smile.

more to come.

edit: el cid was the horse archer, priam was an archer.

I lost one cat (at 55% odds) and wiped out the entire stack! I did send in an outdated axe in the last battle, which he can easily kill with his elephant... but if he does so then I will kill his elephant too, so ill take the trade smile otherwise would have had to let a shock axe survive on his side

turn wrap up to come shortly

here's his stack after the cats, right before I unleashed the units that can actually kill:

I still use the old ready reckoner. In fact when I'm in practise, I use pen and paper, find it the fastest for adding strings of numbers.;p

Same. And congratulations.

Crikey! Azza, what were you thinking? Has he got any other units you can't see stashed anywhere?

Also I just realised if you turn on sign mode we can see which stack you're pointing at. Pretty please?

since when can I not attack an enemy unit in neutral land? thats annoying, lets hope he moves out as I was planning to take a short cut through brick's city there

I loaded these two maces on a galley, they can be in A7x (oops, forgot to rename to Beowulf this turn) in 2 turns.

what we know of azzas army:

this should be pretty accurate, since we have vision on all his cities. he might have a navy hanging out in a fogged area though.
And I can't find that axeman, so maybe its on a boat?

I was last to play, as the turn rolled
1) we got research visibility on slowcheetah. he has 4 turns to go on education, so I'd say its pretty clear slowcheetah and commodore are racing to liberalism. I hope slowcheetah wins. btw, scooter of all people got paper last turn. we still have a good beaker edge on him, although he has paper, calender, and compass on us.

2) we got +3 war weariness in gilgamesh, and +1 in the aeneid (probably others I didn't notice) causing both cities to go into unhappy. so I made some trades!

he should accept this

plako logged in and accepted this before I logged out, so the crises is averted (temporarilY)

a few notes:

only happies out there we don't have atm are elephants and gems. both are +2 happy for us (in market cities, anyway), and no one has duplicates of either. Elephants we can get from serdoa or commodore.. I don't think serdoa would give them up but commodore might for cash and a health. we'll have to consider that as war weariness gets worse. Azza and serdoa have the only gems, iirc. we'll need to take tenacious D and muse from azza and get culture into them to take the gems from azza, though. there is a jungled gems south of mahabrata, and we still have the option of planing a junk city there (it would share rice with popol vol, grab the gems, and not much else). but it wouldnt be super productive, a bitch to defend, and would probably be viewed as aggressive by serdoa. I think we'll have to wait until we conquer azza for gems. frown

i finished up a mace in maths, and started the chariot. I'll be able to one turn it. Have the gg hanging out between arthur and the odyssey for the chariot to meet up with. then, I think, 1-2 archers out of maths - I want some Cg3 archers in Beowulf so we can mostly empty the city and don' thave to worry about azza sneaking around us and retaking it (we'll have walls up very soon too).

this is the last turn El Cid uses the pigs, it will be size 11 next turn and ill start growing maths - need it up to 16 to get all the hammers and really pump out military smile

loose plan: heal in A7x, cram with units, including medic 3 chariot. then march on tenacious D. we can reach his borders in 3 turns. we'll have 11-12 cats, and will have to bombard for at least one turn - 60% culture and on a hill frown. lots of unpromoted cats so I can promote bombard if need be to get it down to 0. try to take and hold tenacious D. i think he'll end up clearing out presets, so hopefully we can march a small force in there and raze it. i have completed the fort so we can galley units right onto its doorstep. but I'm not going to worry about it until after tenacious D.

alternate plan: just take the easier target and raze presets, then go from there. will knock him down to 4 mainland cities that can produce units and we'll have more units to go after tenacious D. What do you think?

I think you should take tenacious d first to split his forces up, then go after presets...

Yeah let's take Tenacious D.

Azza definitely on tilt with that attack.
