[spoilers] Commodore: Worse than Toku, it's Giggles of Siam!
|
What's Commodore's favorite breakfast food? Pancakes, but only in massive stacks.
(Also this is a Big and Small map, isn't it? Lots of one-tile islands on those) (I'm pretty new to Civ 4 and BTS especially, and quests confuse me. Does everyone in the game get the popup, or are quests for one player only, or does only one player get the popup but anyone can do it? If that last one, how are others supposed to know that a quest has shown up? And if any player can do a quest, why didn't you go after the Classical Literature quest, especially since you have GLib?)

Tragically, it's random who gets what quest. Thus, I never got the Classical Lit quest, and Bigger got it. Others might have received it, though. If I could pick any classical quest, I'd probably opt for the Sports one as Creative. Still, Blessed Seas is a good one, and one I could do fairly peacefully; lots of good land still out there. I need to snipe it from Mr. Cheetah, though.
Of course, I still will take some of those with iron and blood. Azza caved and gave a city to Serdoa for peace, so I think I'll be taking his island holdings if I can. Need that Astronomy slingshot; I think I can make it. Slow is going to keep that epic GNP for a good long while, though, what with that Great Merchant birth. Nothing for it; full steam ahead lads! I'm keeping this 100% rate up myself for another ten turns with Western Heights' blood. Here's the tech situation. This turn's bulb saw me to 95% of Education, so it's a question: Can I beat Slowcheetah? Answer: Probably. Good news is he's the only one who can contest. Bad news is, I'm massively behind on Guilds. The only thing I'm worried about is getting hit. Interesting, Scoot... Turn: 183 Status:

AI Montezuma starts next to Commodore and thinks "Oh Crap".
Commodore goes to a dinner party, immediately cuts off access to the silverware, and leaves with a great general. Commodore studies art and culture - for the defensive bonus.
Folks, I love the Chuck Norris homage, but I think I deserve some credit for my current Peacemongery. CHECK IT, HOME-BOYS:
Slowcheetah still lacks Philosophy. I ain't losing the race. Even if I get invaded...then it's just going to sling Gunpowder, I'm not too proud.

...and the rest of the turn. Xenu traded his map for a copper, as he apparently has been dealing with Slowcheetah recently I know the Western Ocean a good deal more. One critical little island, in between Azza and Slow...with a native source of cattle! I'm hurting for health; this will be huge if I can snipe it.
But much more important is the Big Island, future home of Bella Vista I think. In between the builds of research and wealth and universities(!), I'm slipping in a mace, settler, and worker to get on a galleon made the turn Astro comes in; the Hydra fleet gets a missionary. This archipelago is going to get us our Blessed Sea, just you wait. With Liberalism and Printing Press coming shortly, we need to get Scientific Method soon after; a big leg up on Physics and other goodies is critical if we're going to beat the bigger empires. As a result, now is the time to wring the last out of the Parthenon...Riverside is our 800 GPP person, then it's 900 from Coldspring and the last from the capital, again (700 comes a cropper for PP soon after the GA ends). Hungry, tense...but fun! Turn: 184 Status:

Nice job on the Lib set up Commodore
So....Nationalism? or Astro? No real need to race for Sci Meth (yet). Plenty of goodies to be gotten on this side of it yet: Replaceable Parts, Rifling, Constitution, Chemistry, Astro, Steam Power, Railroad......all while we keep our wonders ticking over.
fnord
Oh, Astro definitely, there are a whopping 11 cities, at least, in the west we need to settle. Nationalism isn't actually forgone even then though...for all the pain of Western Height's hunger, that GM will see us at 100% for a long while.
