Alright my friends let's be quick, but lets not rush in to anything, yes? I would rather not fight so soon after expending most of my spells.
Let us be off!

Yes. Let us send the man on his way while we take our horses and follow in pursuit.

"Hrm, good herbs here. Let's follow the trail, I wonder if we'll find some of the local wildflowers in bloom this time of year..."

Now that everyone's agreed on a plan, you quickly set it in motion. The mounts are quickly brought down, Jordan is sent on his way, and in hardly any time you follow Kilthan and Menas down the trail. You head southeast, and then the trail veers and ends up looping all the way around to the north, crossing the road 100 yards to the east and continuing north toward the mountains. The terrain gets steeper and rougher as you go; your pace slows, but it appears the ogres weren't moving particularly quickly through here either.
The trail cuts across a hill, down into a little valley with a stream. Here, the trail becomes very obvious, as the ogres were walking on the muddy banks - still heading northward and upward. As you go, the walls of the valley start to become steeper and higher, and the river banks narrower. The mud turns to rock, and the trail becomes much more subtle, but as there's only one way forward, you have confidence.
Further along, it becomes basically cliff walls surrounding the river, sort of like this without the road:
In just a couple of hours (midafternoon), you start to hear ogre voices up ahead. At this point, the valley itself is only 30 ft wide, with a 10 ft swift-flowing stream on your right, hugging that bank/cliff. The valley twists and turns; the noise seems to be coming from around the next corner or two.
Kilthan turns to the group: "We need an accurate count, and we need to see if this is their lair. I could go, but I think some of you would be better at it than me. What do you recommend?"
(OOC: I'm sorry for the delay in update; I'm afraid this may continue for a while - I'm moving again. I should generally have more time once I get all my arrangements worked out.)

I'd likely be a decent hand at counting and not being noticed while doing so, but if someone can understand what they're saying, that might be almost as useful.

Time saving:
Rolls here, if you're considering proposing someone else as forward scout, do not look at these.
Only to be used if we decide I'm the one to go scouting.

Considering what I've done the last time I went scouting, I think is better if another person go. mariel sounds a good choice for me.

Whoever goes should probably take the monk along with them.
Grouk, do Ogres speak Orcish? If so, perhaps your skills in that area, as well as your considerable battle prowess, could come in handy in the vanguard.

Nothing I've heard (other than what was in Common) has been understandable, so if they do speak Orcish, it's a dialect I'm not familiar with.

I believe that it will be fine if Mariel goes alone. I trust her ability solo far more than I trust ours to follow behind without hindrance. We will await you and your report.
