Remember my speculation about Apolyton having two academies, and perhaps building their first one in their second city, back around T70 and T80?

Turns out I probably was spot on smug

That's Apolyton's second city, and it has Taoism, a hammam, barracks, library, market, Taoist monastery and temple, courthouse, and an Academy.

I have to say, you've been very good with this cloak and dagger stuff. Remind me to never play you in a game. You'll know what I'm doing before I even decide. lol Others have said this but it is worth saying again; thanks for all the effort you've put into this game. You've been awesome. nod

Again, things are quite fluid with plenty of teams, but here are some notes on what has happened lately:

The Mahabodhi was built by CivPlayers on T130, so they got the Great Prophet last turn.

I'm quite certain the Spanish researched a classical tech on T130, but I'm more than a little unsure which tech they did research. APTmod shows no power increase for them this turn, and I don't think they have Sailing, so it's not Calendar. I've noted down Currency for now, with CoL and Aesthetics as possible alternatives.

There has been lots of new cities lately, by relatively few teams. The last five turns has seen nine new cities (excluding Frozen Jungle): one by Apolyton, one by the Germans, four (!) by CivFr, and three (!) by Univers. I think Apolyton went on a settling race lately due to them seeing how CivFr and Univers expanded, over-reacted with lots of stretch cities, and now CivFr and Univers respond to that.

I think it's quite likely that CivFr finished a national wonder on T127 (score increase of 22). Moai, Heroic Epic, and National Epic are all candidates (remember they have marble). Either that, or they have 9 classical techs (with probably completing CoL on T127).

Univers are confirmed to know Iron Working, since they have iron available as a resource. I can also confirm Calendar for them - they have silk available. I think they researched Calendar on T124.

The Spanish has finally managed to connect their deer resource. Not sure they have a city that can take advantage of it, though. Their T118 city (Nongomo) claimed 8 tiles, and the deer is coastal.

One thing to remember is that the Germans has a stone connected now (outside Wanzleben), thus cheap walls. We might need to remember that for our military planning. With walls and hills, even normal archers and spears can be tough nuts to crack for a fast stack.

Diplomatic deals:

WPC receives wine from CFC.
Apolyton sends wheat to CivFr, and receives sugar.
Apolyton receives stone from Univers, paying 7gpt.
The Germans receives stone, spices from us, and sends marble.
CivFr sends sugar to Apolyton, and receives wheat.
CivFr trades rice to CivPlayers for clam.
CivPlayers trades clam to CivFr for rice.
CivPlayers trades wheat to Univers for pig.
CFC receives spices, stone from us.
CFC sends wine to WPC.
Univers sends stone to Apolyton, receiving 7gpt.
Univers trades pig to CivPlayers for wheat.

Resources:

When looking at resources, I also that CivFr hasn't connected a horse yet. Not sure if that's deliberate, or if they simply missed out on the resource (though I think the latter is very unlikely). I think we can also confirm that CivFr has been facing a health crunch, which is hardly surprising giving a size 17 and a size 15 city for a non-EXP leader, and that they have dealt with it using trades.

Ie, we can hurt CivFr indirectly if we somehow can manage to engineer them into diplomatic isolation. Note their relatively low total set of resources (the figures above includes resources traded away) - it's quite possible they have more duplicate food resources improved but not connected.

Univers also lacks horses connected right now.

Might we be able to check Currency by a change in the total (or average, or best) import-export numbers, given extra trade routes available? Or would that not show up there

Is there an easy to reference place where I can find the link to civstats for this game?

I think CFC has been performing some sort of offensive against the south of the Spanish team - the city of Bulawayo has built walls. I think from looking at old maps that they finished it on T125 or so, but I can't be sure. It might have been finished this turn.

Given that the city is on a hill, has walls, and that neither part has a qualitative military edge, I doubt CFC had any chance of taking the city, and given the lack of fighting for the last several turns I think CFC realised that as well.

Some quickie notes:

The main news of the turn must be that CFC also finished Nationalism! They do not have access to marble right now, but I'm pretty sure they're also gunning for the Taj Mahal. Remember, they can get marble if they push military for a few turns, and secures the area to their northeast.

Univers passed CFC in being the rival best in pop points (as opposed to the geometric population). This will help a lot in working out their score distribution, and thus techs.

Lol, any chance we hit up CFC about honoring their marble trade right about now?

Unless they have marble now and a ton of forests to chop, hard to see how they beat us with all our huge whip overflow now that we have marble.
