Yes. The number of henchmen has a 20% chance of being each number in the range 0-4.
Ah, nice.
I suppose 4 mistforms would be worse, but my henchmen luck has been okay. Probably 0 nothings, then.

gtAngel has had the turn for 30 hours now, so nothing new to report.

but I decided to calculate just how screwed I am.
My observation is 'no henchmen'. This is either because I got the 0-henchmen-roll or because mistforms were selected as henchmen. First was 20 % chance, second was 1 in 12 (Azer, Griffon, Axeman, Wolf, Chaos Marauder, Wolf Rider, Mistform, Lion, Tiger, Baby Spider, Fawn, Scorpion) or 8,3 % chance.
So 20/28,3*100 = 71 % chance I'm still un-screwed.

You also could have rolled mistforms and 0 followers. That brings your odds up to 75%!

Even better!
Turn 32
Decided to not explore this time. Founded new city 'south hill' Amon Harad, otherwise little to do.

Sounds like you won the battle, at least.
Have you renamed your capital to fit the apparent Lord of the Rings theme as well?

It was not clear from screenshot, but the pic was taken after my & barbarian turn (spectre moved into desert). So I'll get the honor of ridding the world of the undead menace, for now, next turn. Should have written "But in the north, everything would depend on a close fight".
Capital is following the LoTR theme. Or rather the "middle-earth" theme - elvish words. I simply think of names in norwegian, translate to english, then translate to elvish. Using this list: Elvish-English word list
There is also the translator (but havent used it, I just ctrl-f search the list or browse for cool sounding names for my units)
So capital is horselord city and first city is south hill. So easy to come up with suggestions for names. Or units.

Turn 32
We all knew how the battle was gonna go? Desert give -25% on defense, probably due to the heat or lack of water. None of that bother undead. So of course,
On the bright side, this means I definately did not pop any mistforms because there is no way I lost two all-or-nothing 75% rolls in a row. It also shows that my hunch was right, I should have pulled warrior back towards city. It would have worse odds, around 40%, but then I would have units to kill the weakened spectre. If spectre wins a new fight without getting killed afterwards I guess it turns into a wraith?
Spectre moved to the former defensive post. Next turn our sages think it will drift across our flatlands and approach our capital. It will disrupt farming or plantation activities, probably plantation so it doesn't have to cross water to attack my city. It might sit still for a turn before attack capital too. Our resident sage does not know if spectres possess the will, or indeed the means to pillage my lands.
So I sent my explorative warrior right back to capital. Also set production to another warrior, can finish in 3 turns. Master plan is let spectre attack (and kill) a defending warrior, then counterattack with warrior + scout for the kill. My worker would have finished this turn but went for warrior just the same. So a horribly bad result, lost a 5xp warrior (he would have become...), scouting of my lands south and several worker turns.

So, umm... I lost track. What units did you lose? The AC hasn't gone down, so I guess you didn't lose the demon. Checking the map again, it looks like a couple warriors on a hill near the mine... okay, that makes sense.
The losses suck, in any event.
... And yeah, if the spectre gets up to L6, it turns into a wraith, and then, IIRC, it casts wither whenever it attacks, as well as having even more strength.

Just one loss. Rookie warrior attacked at 75% odds. Spectre only took around 50HP damage, so he healed right up with 2 promotions.
