WW23: The Heart of Gold

I don't think anyone covered themselves in glory on day one. I give Bigger a little bit of credit for being active. I think it was probably more clumsy than scummy. Beyond that - eh, I could be convinced on anyone because basically Ryan through himself on the pyre and then a bunch of people jumped up with torches. That was pretty much the day.

Hopefully the nightkill will tell us something.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Well, I agree with zak. I really love to play with everyone on RB, but please, think first about if you have time before you sign up, at least for those small games. With 15-20 players that is much less hurtful if you can't make it (and also accepted because those are so long that everyone will have a day with less activity).

Anyhow, I don't think the decision to lynch Ryan was the wrong one - nor was it the "low-hanging fruit". It simply was the logical thing to do in the situation. A situation without any leads. The exact same posts I read now would also be written if we had lynched Bigger or uberfish, if they are village. And if we had lynched a wolf, some players would now celebrate themselves, despite it still being just a lucky coincidence (and that from me, who would have thought...).

Also, this lynch doesn't make much difference. I assume we will go down to a 3-2 or 2-1 endgame anyhow. In both cases that means we will have expended our two mislynches. And it is in both cases a 50% chance for the villagers to hit the wolves (you'll not vote for yourself, so the decision is either 2-2 or 1-1 for you).

LOL again at the whining about "oh we have no leads because no one did anything and scum are going to win". Absolute nonsense. Think about this: Some people KNEW Ryan was innocent and had an incentive to try to position themselves to look as good as possible. Especially in a relatively quiet game where it's likely that anyone stepping out of line will be jumped on. So right now I think serdoa is probably village as his reactions to Ryan and post-lynch read as genuine village frustration. Gaspar's moaning is reminiscent of the stuff he posts in scum threads because he hates playing scum. I thought he might be roleplaying Marvin at first, but Lewwyn has just extremely unsubtly hinted at that identity. For no apparent reason. Which I find suspicious as there's no real gain for village to be dropping hints of this nature at night whereas scum might do it to set up a claim later. And neither PB or Zak have posted much more than roleplay and halfhearted defences of Ryan.

BTW I can tell you what my natural reaction as scum in this situation is: Argue against the policy lynch and try to make people on the policy lynch wagon look bad for going through with it. Example: Azza on day 2 of the last game. If a different villager gets mislynched, that's also a great outcome for scum who can hold the policy lynch in reserve for another day.

agreed.

Honestly, I would like to hear the uberfish voters explain their votes. I think uber is making a great deal of sense and doesnt come across any scummier than he does every single game he plays (i.e., baseline). I also didn't see a reason for any of the votes - why the late bandwagon?

I think the uber voters look dirtier than the Ryan voters. Ryan was the right lynch, considering the information we had.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

Actually reviewing Lewwyn's posts again he was "acting depressed" throughout the day so it's not just a night thing. I still suspect Lewwyn, because he reads like he knows Ryan is going to be a mislynch and is "resigned" to watch the town messing it up, his last post of the day doesn't even comment on Serdoa and myself moving votes to Ryan following Ryan's post.

You are so stretching its untrue.

Your comments are unbelievably superficial PB, although possibly too incompetent to be scum

Did you think Ryan was scum? I'm not unhappy to see him lynched - on the contrary, I'm overjoyed! But I didn't think he was likely scum. I think both Serdoa and Uberfish overstated that probability.

I voted Uberfish because he made a couple of cheap jabs during the day, without really following through. His reaction to being bandwagoned was also scummy IMO - "which of you is scum?" as a rhetorical question, instead of actually trying to work that out. Sounds like if there even was a scum on his wagon, it was his buddy. It is also noteworthy that he went from saying "I'm staying on Gaspar" to taking the very first opportunity to hop off him. And when he originally did say that, people were already talking about Ryan as a fallback lynch, so it was really in the cards that there would be an opportunity to switch.

It wasn't a late bandwagon from my point of view - I started it well before the deadline. And when Ryan didn't even vote to save himself, I thought it was pretty clear he was innocent, so Uberfish felt like a better lynch.

So yeah, in case I die: Uberfish and Gaspar as my current best bets. Not that I expect anyone to pay attention to that after I'm dead. smile

Oh, and Lewwyn: if we're both alive tomorrow, we should form a voting bloc. cool
If you know what I mean.

Zaphod marched quickly down the passageway, nervous as hell, but trying to hide it by striding purposefully. Once he was safely in his quarters, he went straight to his drinks cabinet to mix himself a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.
"Why so nervous, Zaphod?", someone asked behind his back. "Be cool."
Zaphod jumped with shock and nearly spilled his drink. He drained it quickly before anything serious happened to it. He then had another quick one to follow the first one down and check that it was all right.
"I'm up to here with cool, okay?", Zaphod eventually managed to say. "I am so amazingly cool you could keep a side of meat in me for a month. I am so hip I have difficulty seeing over my pelvis. Show a little respect for your president, will you?"
"I've always thought that anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."
"Hah", Zaphod replied, "You're right of course. Still, all through my life I've had this strange unaccountable feeling that something was going on in the world, something big, even sinister, and no one would tell me what it was."
"That's just perfectly normal paranoia. Everyone in the Universe has that. I can tell you what's going on here on the Heart of Gold right now though, if you're interested."
"I'd love to know. If there's anything more important than my ego around, I want it caught and shot now.", Zaphod declared.
"Okay then", Zaphod's conversation partner continued. "But first let me ask you: What are you doing flying this stolen starship across the universe? What are you after?"
"Well," said Zaphod airily, "It's partly the curiosity, partly a sense of adventure, but mostly I think it's the fame and the money...."
"I was afraid you might say that."
There was a terribly ghastly silence.
There was a terribly ghastly noise.
There was a terribly ghastly silence.

In the morning, cleaning robots discovered Zaphod's body. He had been stabbed multiple times to both throats, and had defensive wounds on all three arms. In addition his brains seemed to be smashed out with a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick, but that was probably just the effect of a double shot of Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.

Serdoa, playing Zaphod Beeblebrox, President of the Galaxy, was killed.
He had the following ability: Quibble.
Serdoa wins with the good guys.

It is now day 2. Day 2 ends at 2100 GMT, Tue 30 Apr.
I have to run.
