Only #2 GNP when saving gold though. Fintourist has turned on research as well. I need to review my builds and see if there are any high-hammer locations to set to wealth and turn this up to 11. Max Power is Azza, so hopefully that's got Fintourist's attention and I can boom.

Twiddled builds and set up a bunch of wealth builds. Lib on T130 iirc.
Turns have slowed down significantly...

GA GNP with Wealth Builds is now my ~645 v. Fintourist's ~486 or so. I assume this is max research for both of us. I'm lining up another GP that's mostly merchant points, but who knows what'll pop out as. I suppose I should go look at the lists and see which kind of GP I need to possibly help bulb liberalism...
Hard to get into this game when the turns come around once every day + delta where delta is a significant fraction of a day.

Elaboration: my beaker count was larger when I opened the save than when I sent the save last turn. I'm researching education. Implies someone finished education and so has a march on liberalism.

Perhaps false alarm. GNP remains constant whether or not I'm pointed at Nationalism or Education, so they've got the same beaker cost generation rate and I *sincerely* doubt that Fintourist has *both* of those on me.

Plan in general is to lib nationalism, grab Taj, drop a 2-person golden age, and basically have 3 MoM fuelled GA's under my belt and to come out with draftable rifles, steel, astronomy, and chemistry. Then whip-draft the civilization into the ground for units and kill people.
Detail planning, I want to grab my universities and Oxford while building Taj, so I think Taj goes into a high production city somewhere (that's really specific isn't it? :P) not the capital while the capital builds it's university and everyone else preps for university whips. Dill is out as a university city though because I'm trying to get the National Epic built there at the same time. University timing probably isn't going to be bang-on perfect, *shrug*. Oh and then of course needing units so no-one gets greedy while I'm sitting there overheating on tech.
Techs post nationalism, backfill (sort of) up to gunpowder:
Machinery (Maces & Crossbows, DEFENSE!) -> Guilds (Grocer for Shrine & Workshops+) -> Engineering (Pikes & cheap Castles) -> HBR (Knights) -> Compass (cheap Harbors) -> Gunpowder (Muskets). Perhaps slip alphabet in there somewhere on a cash turn.

nm, flip the panic button back on. 828 when researching Education, 791 when researching Nationalism. As I am generating 111 culture and 4 espionage points, that's
713 vs 676 GNP. Diff of 37, 37/713 = .051, which looks an awful lot like one person's share of the 20% total known tech bonus. Drat. Race. So I micro. If it's got a library it's working only food and scientists. If it's the capital and the tile produces less than 4 commerce, it's working scientists. At this configuration I have 2 turns of gold to make it happen, but then I'll find the new optimum to finish it off... whew.

Post-turn update. I'll be able to lib at the end of my T129 and I'm first in turn order. Azza has got a stack that is coming in, but it may be for Fintourist instead of me in the middle. If Azza is coming for me, I'll be able to lib -> Nationalism + Draft/whip a defense since it's just axes and I've got Longbows up already.
