Any thoughts on Lissandra? With her kit I imagined she was a natural mid-laner. However, I saw her being played as a support earlier today - pretty successfully actually.

Really? I''m trying to get 10 wins for that summoner icon and all I see are people mindlessly diving into the enemy team.
Waiting for the rest of the team to revive? Siege the tower because we have Nidalee with spears on our team? Buying any aura item? No no, must dive....
But maybe your mmr is much higher than mine so you don't get paired with the same people I do. Right now the game mode lacks any strategy and tactics, but maybe that's the point.
My MMR sucks. But the map is gorgeous and ARAM is fun and match-making + rerolls + dodge penalties is all great in my book. And if everyone is diving, then it is easy to bait the enemy to dive you!
My two criticisms of the new set-up are: Blind-pick makes runing/masteries hard. It sucks to rune a lot of armor and face an all AP comp. Time for some balanced pages. (I get that they do this to lower dodge rates). I also don't like how you can have mirror matches.

Strategy? In my ARAM? NONSENSE!!!!!!
That being said, I have seen some groups in ARAM perform much more... intelligently than others. You know, like not running and diving under the tower when the opposing team got Amumu.

I believe it. She poses some nice poke and an excellent amount of disable. So, she can run either position like a Zyra.
EDIT: took a moment to think about it, and Lux also brings good utility and poke as a support, plus a shield. I think the main reason she tends towards Mid instead of support is because of her higher damage due to Lux Laser and zoning from the orb, but a hard skillshot disable+shield isn't enough to make her as strong of a support. Zyra instead brings 2 types of disable. Lissandra falls closer to Zyra with great disable, clean poke, and a handy escape.

Lux's range is a great advantage for her. Zyra's grasping roots have somewhat of a high range as well, but Lux's light binding is even better, not only in range, but Lux's bind is always 2 seconds, while Zyra's starts from 0.75 and scales up. Another difference is with their scouting ability. Lux can throw a super safe 1100 range lucent singularity at a brush, while Zyra has to get to 825 range only to cover a smaller area. Also can't forget the global presence that Lux's Final Spark gives, you can change games by stealing buffs, dragons or barons, or you can use it to finish off opponents in a team fight since it's such low CD that it will be up twice in a team fight. Lux might not be the most popular support in the pro scene, but she's really good. The big disadvantage of Lux is that all her spells are skill shots. I remember a pro saying that he would like to play Lux mid (this was when no-one played her) but his team wouldn't let him because the champ is so difficult.

On point one, you need to consider that making you unable to see opponents champions to try and reduce dodging isn't that great of an idea. If you've played plenty of ARAM you can generally predict the result accurately 75% of the time just by seeing the champs, but its also worth pointing out that most people know which champions are good/bad and you will see dodging occur regardless when someone gets Udyr instead of Master Yi. Lets just say for a second that people dodge less in champion select, now that they only see the lineups in the loading screen will they be more likely than before to leave or DC right at the start of the game? Hmm...
As for the runes/masteries you should IMO focus more on MR than Armor since ARAM's will typically feature more magic damage champions than AD. No I do not have statistical evidence to back this up, just my experience over hundreds of ARAMS.
I've only played 4-5 games so I haven't seen mirror matching yet, but yes if thats true then it should really be unique.
Regardless the introduction of this map queue interested me enough to run my LOL launcher for the first time since early March.

There were definitely 1-2 groups I remember who played ARAM together quite regularly and they were 1700+ ELO players back in season 2, so if you ran into them you just got unlucky. Otherwise its the luck of the draw whether you have good/bad/suicidal/passive/AFK teammates.
I might consider making an ARAM tierlist just to give an idea of how different champions can be a lot stronger in ARAM than in normal LOL.

I wonder if Riot is clever enough to bias the random draw in such a way as to reduce dodging.

Played against a Diamond league guy today, who's now playing against Gold. Never been so satisfying to report someone

No, for playing support Ryze in this particular game.
For being a cancer to the community, in general.
