You won't have to play turns and I'll gladly discuss with you the state of the game... you'll just have to find out about this state yourself because I think it is safe to assume that also this game my thread will not have daily updates.
But seriously: If you don't mind to look into the game yourself from time to time I'll gladly welcome you on the team. Maybe I even get it done to at least update every 5 turns when someone is actually discuss what I am posting with me.
Thanks for the offer Serdoa. It's an option but to be perfectly honest I don't think you need my help in a game like this.
In any case, I'll hold off deciding until I know if I'm needed to complete the roster.

If there aren't enough signups, I might help fill the roster by being the last signup. Will need to think about it though
If you are thinking of signing up, I can team with you, with the caveat that from May 27-June 27 and then from September until the winter I'm going to be lurking, not actively playing. So, I'll be around to help with the initial plannings and microings, and probably the first 15-20 turns, then take a lesser role for a month, etc. I can play the turns when I'm available, too.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.
1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.
2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.
3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.
4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Map type: Something cylindrical Barbarians: off Everyone start with scout+warrior: Everyone starts with just a scout Huts: off Random Events: off Espionage: On but spies not allowed and Gspies settled or GA Corporations: Off (or maybe just ban Sids depending on map?) War elephants banned: Yes Nukes banned: Yes Blockades banned: Yes Gifting banned: Except peace offers
Leader/Civ bans- Pacal, Willem, India, Inca (maybe Sury?). Huyana doesn't need banning in my opinion.
Yeah! Glad to have you Ichabod. If you want you can also decide on a naming theme for our cities. If you don't want, I'll name them after ex-girlfriends (lets hope the map isn't too big...).
