I admit I forgot momentarily about GLH. Still, we can found any number of iceball coastal cities that don't claim new food resources. No reason to prioritize one of those. If our workers are out of position to settle a city south of Catherine, I'd settle this blue dot:

The other dots are low priority and can be filled in or moved at a much later time. The blue dot grabs two food resources, can easily grow to size 6, and can be used for drafting. It also claims enough of the territory down here that the rest shouldn't be contested by CivPlayers.

Fake edit: Excellent GT plan, Seven.

well that city at least claims some non-tundra tiles, hehe smile. its ok, but requires a road connection for trade routes and expanded borders for either deer, so it will be a drain for awhile.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

We should avoid cities that aren't immediately profitable right now, IMO. These games are won on GNP and we are starting to be a little stagnant. Once we have to pay for supply to the army and for distant German cities that are whipped to nubs, it will get worse. Thus I would focus on coastal plants.

I finished up with the turn and ended it. Drafted at The Covenant, 3 pop whipped the forge in Gourmet Menu. We still haven't solved the happiness issues at Eastern Dealers, but we can look at that again after the new turn begins.

Seven, I am happy to defer to your plan for building the Globe Theatre by working the plains hill mine. I swapped from a farm to the mine, and I'll follow that outline in the post above. The city did indeed have 20/30 food in the box this turn.

novice, I really dislike the suggested inland cities. With our various economic woes from having so many cities, we definitely want to plant our next city on the coast to benefit from Great Lighthouse trade routes. I'd rather have a coastal city with the free trade routes working a 4 food deer tile and a bunch of coastal still than a city with double deer and the rest tundra tiles. Anyway, there doesn't seem to be any consensus at all on where to put a city in the southwest, so let's just put it over in the southeast at the deer/crabs pair. It will be slow getting started, but you guys hate all of my other suggestions, so whatever. smile

CFC offered the marble trade AGAIN in-game, which I have again rejected. I left them a message stating that we would respond to them diplomatically. I really hate it when teams do this in-game diplo window stuff; feels like we're getting an ultimatum every time.

Given the way CFC behaves, I really think we should go on and put the Hermitage in either Starfall or Eastern Dealers.

I think I'd prefer to put it in Eastern Dealers, despite the greater distance. More GPP is always helpful, and Eastern Dealers has much higher innate production.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

I approve of this petty vengeance smile

We've had a new turn roll over tonight. I won't be able to get to it tomorrow evening, since I'll be busy all day at work. The biggest news is probably that CFC has been sinking all of their 100% research into... Engineering tech. There's a good chance that they'll use their Great Engineer to rush Notre Dame. We'll be lucky if they do, as there's no real competition for them on the wonder. They have certainly made good use of the stone resource that we've sent them.

Disappointing as that may be, there's not a lot we can do to stop CFC from taking Notre Dame if they do an Engineering beeline, while in a Golden Age. They still have major tech gaps elsewhere compared to our team, such as nothing along the Aesthetics line (no Epics/Globe), and no Paper/Education/Liberalism. I actually thought that they would be rushing for Printing Press or Constitution or something; the news could have been worse.

Anyway, back to more of the arguing over diplomacy. [Image: wink.gif]

Look at it this way, we wouldn't have gotten it even if we went Engineering first so its good we didn't change. Can't do everything.

The main worry is that they use our stone to slowbuild the Notre Dame. Let's hope they don't have the sang-froid for that.
