[SPOILERS] TT tries yet again to not be terrible

I may have one theatre up at most - mainly been focused on units/wonders/wealth/specialists recently for research power.

Will be going into slavery & theocracy as well as nationhood next turn as I will have no more use for pacifism once the GP is out next turn. Really hoping for a merchant.

Engineering has made a big impact here I think. Jowy managed to get enough in the city to hold it and also attack out at me.

I lost a few cats and a HA & Mace. I can't take the city and its a long walk back to Rannoch.

Thus I have given it him back for peace. I keep a decent portion of my stack and live to fight another day later with Musketeers and Knights.

For the record, I have managed to preserve 2 maces, 2 spears and 6 cats. That is a lot better than losing the entire stack and being super vulnerable.

I should be able to hold firm now and then pick my next target more carefully. Or at worst preserve my territory and wait for another possibility to be opportunistic. I'm thinking Bespin...

Liberalism is in and Gunpowder was taken.

3 theatres are now built and the other 4 should be done over the next 3/4 turns.

Commodore & AT both finished Guilds this turn - that lowers the price for sure.

Unfortunately we got a great scientist instead of a merchant so bulbed the majority of Printing Press and so we can finish that and have more trade bait.

Drafted the max amount of Musketeers this turn too. AT sent a scouting chariot near our border so I showed him that we have them to warn him off.

I'm thinking of roading up to the Bespin border and seeing if I can do a surgical strike. I have a scout that has hung around that area for many turns now and there's very little force there. 6-8 Musketeers should do the trick against his token garrison. Shall see how things turn out.

Feel free to log in and have a look around and let me know your thoughts

cool. how long until we have guilds? printing press is fine after that.

have a plan for building globe theater? remember we need it in a city with good foods, not necessarily good hammers.

Hoping to pinch a Great Engineer in a turn or two which would solve the Globe problem considerably.

Also roading in anticipation of making a surgical strike at Bespin with musketeers and a few knights. Depends what he stacks in there next turn. At the moment its just a longbow and an archer which shouldn't be *too* costly to dislodge.

Got a galley prepped to possibly take out New Sarai too (one archer garrison) but that may have to be a raze job as its less defendable than Bespin. We shall see...

Well ninja DoW'ed me the turn before I was going to do the same and killed two workers - no major loss.

I have moved in with all available musketeers and Knights and we shall see what he has defending next turn. If its a tough nut then I may have to pull back and bring my slow stack to back it up. We shall see. My one worry is he seems to have made peace with Commodore so he may well be directing all his forces at me. That could be painful.

I'm going to have to be careful here. I offered him a get out of jail card of peace for 50g just so I can gauge his determination to fight now he's seen my 2 move stack.

Bigger, I'm probably going to need you to cover me from next Wednesday (22nd) for up to a couple of weeks (6th June) as my 7 university final exams are during those two weeks and I probably need to focus on them.

We got a great engineer who has now been used to rush the globe in our food city.

Also got a major bit of luck with a random even where we needed to have trained 10 muskets, which we had easily done and so now all our musketeers come with the pinch promotion for free!

Any comment on if you can cover for me Bigger?

I think that will be ok if you don't expect me to do a lot of reporting.. Ill try to update some but don't expect a lot of pictures, hehe.

I should have fun, sounds like time to go crazy with knights and pinch muskets, with the globe in place hehee smile.

No need to worry too much about reporting as long as you grab the turns.

Basic plans at the minute.

Divine Right as our next tech choice. Noone else is likely to go for it and Spiral Minaret would help our monk economy.

Militarily, we need to get some cities. I'd like to get Bespin ideally at least but I'll leave the reading of the situation up to you. If you see an opportunity, go for it. We have 8 turns of forced peace with ninja atm, just so you know. Use the galley and 2 knights in our Maoi city if New Sarai remains poorly guarded and you choose to war with ninja.

Be careful with trading Gunpowder around. Unless we get an unbelievably favourable offer, I wouldn't trade it to ninja or AT (I don't trust him). Liberalism trades are much less painful.

Can't think of much else right now - just keep an eye out as things go and if you desperately need my advice/help - email me.

You can take it from the next turn if you like?

The Spiral Minaret is normally not worth teching Divine Right. I don't think tech trading changes this, since nobody will pay much for it, unlike an AI. Other situations might change the relative values, of course.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.
