I agree with that. The plan however I think was to just wait for a few days, then cancel and re-offer and send a message stating what we did with little detail.

True. If we're mobilizing, we should do it whole-heartedly, and use our happy cap.
Surplus happy faces do nothing for us. (One thing civ5 does better.)
If you know what I mean.

Draft first, and whip then?
(The liberals wanted to build 4 battleships, the conservative 6, so they decided to compromise by building 8...)

I suppose if we're going to get a forge and barracks in cutting edge very soon, that's +4 happy so we can afford to double draft. So yes, let's draft and whip the forge and then go on a heavy growth diet.

Chariots and WCs upgrade to knights too, but you can't upgrade to 2 knights in the queue by having a WC and a HA both in the queue. So we may as well simply start HAs since we are able to invest more hammers into them than WCs before we get guilds, if it comes to it.

I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I think all logins we did after the restart point was logins for informational purposes - Sullla didn't end turn after his first login with scouting and worker moves.

Alright, finishing up with the turn. The consensus was to draft Cutting Edge for now, whip the forge when we reached the happiness cap, and draft it again when the first draft penalty wears off in four turns. Here's what the city looks like:
Our happiness situation is as follows:
+4 happiness from default
+7 happiness from luxuries
+1 happiness from religion
+1 happiness from Hereditary Rule garrison unit
Total: 13 happiness (can reach size 13)
Then we can add further happiness with the following:
+2 happiness from forge (gold, gems)
+2 happiness from barracks (Nationhood civic)
+3 happiness from market (furs, silks, ivory)
This gives us a pretty wide leeway to whip and draft, and we've been using exactly that across our empire. Every city of any size has at least one draft penalty of -3 unhappiness, several have the double -6 unhappiness, and every city is carrying at least one whip penalty, if not two. Starfall has about 5 whip penalties right now, but it has forge and barracks and is only size 6, which allows it make do.
In the case of Cutting Edge, the forge and barracks will allow it to hit 17 happy faces, so it can reach size 10 with the double draft penalty plus one whipping penalty, and that's probably enough for the moment. We won't have much spare happiness, that's all. I'm slightly concerned about what will happen when we start to face war weariness, since we have such tight happy caps in most places, but I guess we'll deal with that when the time comes. One thing I'll suggest is that we take the next settler and go found a city directly on silver in a throwaway spot; the superior marble/crabs/silver location requires 100 culture to get the silver in range, and we likely won't have time for that. We're going to need +2 happiness in all of our cities before the German war is over, and that likely means grabbing a throwaway silver city in the antarctic (we do have Great Lighthouse to make it not a total economic sinkhole either).
I split up our big staging stack into three pieces to better disguise it from any roving explorers, and ended our turn.

I suggested a bit earlier that we should found as many cities as we can on top of silvers. We could try to sell the resource and with GLH as Sullla says the cost should be minimal. We can then just treat these cities as expendable, leaving just one token unit in them.
