I'm not convinced by Azzas explanation as stated earlier. I can see how his first post can be understood as one big joke, now after all his explanations. But that it took a day just to get it out of him is just weird. And when I reread it, it reads not so much as if he would provide explanations but more like others provide the explanations for him and he just has to agree to them. I still don't like it. I also don't like novices post. He writes
novice Wrote:That makes sense. I reread the thread and I can totally see where Serdoa is coming from. When you said "because I felt like it" that felt like an inadequate explanation, because the self-vote implies some sort of gambit. But actually it was part of the joke. Not only does this not feel "real" for me but constructed (the last sentence sounds... rough and not really matching up with the other parts imo), but also when Azza first wrote his "I felt like it" the only reaction from novice was to comment on all the cases except Bricks with novice Wrote:The other cases being pushed smell of poisoned wine to me, so I really can't decide what glass to drink from. So back then it was smelling like poisoned wine but now he can understand where I am coming from? Isn't it hilarious that you just come around to actually understand my case when Azza has delivered finally his explanation so that you can instantly again dismiss it? And lets keep in mind that Azza only delivered that explanation because you questioned him about it, asking novice Wrote:I understand the miller claim, that's a funny and obvious joke IMO. But why the self-vote, Azza? Lets see, what did I write as the first point of my case in my very first post: Serdoa Wrote:I really, really don't like this. We know that in this setup there is no miller so obviously it is a lie / joke. But his self-vote on top is imo just used to discourage anyone from voting him. So let me get this straight novice. You dismissed my case, agreeing with slowcheetah who had stated that my argument isn't working because Azzas post made him to a talking point and did not deflect attention away from him (something I claimed and what I still stand by, believing that Azza would have skated along if I hadn't called him out, because when I did he had already at least 3 people who did read it, comment on it and not act on it [novice, zak, slow]). And now, nearly 1 and a half day later you ask Azza about exactly the point that was the reason for me to look at him. Quite honestly, I have a hard time believing that. But it gets better. Because you already commented on that self-vote post from him: novice Wrote:Oh and hilarious opening post by Azza. That was your first reaction to that post. No questioning, no nothing. You've glimpsed over it. I think intentionally. I think you didn't want to see it. And I think you asked Azza only now because you two realized that the votes are not going away.
Serdoa, my latest post that you're referencing is indeed clumsy. I just wanted to state clearly what my interpretation of events is, as I spotted some people misunderstanding each other on my readthrough and wanted to avoid that.
And the timing is indeed ironic. First I ask Azza to reply to the self-vote thing as I realized he never really had answered it. Then I reread the thread and found myself nodding along with Serdoa's self-vote case. By which I mean, I agreed with the logic in your case but my gut feel still said that Azza was villager. Still, I was ready to switch my vote to Azza. But when I came back to the newest posts, Azza had answered my question to my satisfaction. The way I see it Serdoa your case on Azza was twofold. One part was the miller claim which was obviously just a joke in my eyes. The other part was the self-vote, which I initially failed to emphasize since I just felt that the entire wagon was based on false premises due to the "Miller claim is a gambit" argument. (May 24th, 2013, 14:59)Serdoa Wrote:novice Wrote:Oh and hilarious opening post by Azza. Why would I "intentionally" "glimpse over" that post? Why not just avoid mentioning it in that case? That quote by me just shows that I thought his post was an obvious joke, to the extent that his self-vote didn't really register. I believe Slowcheetah had the same reaction.
I have to run.
I don't know why you would do that novice. I can think of a few explanations (covering a gambit, because as soon as a few people have "overlooked" something, often times even those noticing it won't comment on it, because you or zak, etc. have already dismissed it). Of course it can be just like you said that you interpreted it as joke. Its D1 after all, there are just bits to go on about. But tbh, I still like my case best - though I have to admit without your and Azzas posts I probably would have switched to Gazglum, as I can agree with zaks case in parts and would like to pressure Gazglum a little bit. But as it stands, I'm not so sure that would be wise as I am getting more and more interested in Azzas alignment, and be it just for the interactions that happened today.
I agree that Gazglum's interaction with BRick was odd (and I'm not saying that to bribe Serdoa). Gazglums behaviour reminded me of that scene in Saving Private Ryan where one soldier fights hand to hand with another in an attic, and he ends up lying on top of his adversary, gently shushing him while pushing a dagger into his chest.
I have to run.
I agree with this:

He may still be a wolf, but I don't think he's played a scummy Azza game. I think I've been guilty of the same thing: not distinguishing properly between the self-vote and the miller joke. If you don't connect the two, or don't believe that they are connected, then pursuing Azza based on the self-vote makes sense. I do think that the self-vote makes sense as part of the joke, though. Nice imagery, Novice.
If you know what I mean.
Starting point:
Votes: Tally BrickAstley - ( 2 ) - Novice, Gazglum Azza - ( 2 ) - Serdoa, Jkaen Gazglum - ( 2 ) - Rowain, Zakalwe Tasunke - ( 2 ) - Azza, Mattimeo Lewwyn - ( 1 ) - BrickAstley Ichabod - ( 1 ) - Slowcheetah Mattimeo - ( 1 ) - Lewwyn Slowcheetah - (1) - Ichabod No vote - ( 1 ) - Tasunke
If you know what I mean.
Maybe we should consolidate our votes soon. I imagine many of the euros will be on tomorrow morning for the deadline, but there won't be much time for discussion then.
I'm still going back and forth on Brick and Gazglum. I'm kind of repeating myself with this, but it's hard to reconcile this reaction: (May 23rd, 2013, 12:15)BRickAstley Wrote: Yay, I get to be one of the recipients of the day one buses. I wa strying to stay calm cause the same shit happens every game. If I say "Yes", It's "Hey look, suspicious BRick!", if I say "No, It's "Hey look, suspicious BRick!". Of course, stuff happened in between, but still.
