I think it's worth telling Spanish Apolyton that we need a fast response on the ivory offer. Just in case CFC does come through with a NAP offer, it would be good to have that deal in place first.

From CivPlayers:
Quote:Hi,
Why only about 10T? It is now turn 146, and we have fixed duration of NAP until 160 and 10T auto-extension time.I believe this means that we have NAP until 170T at least. Otherwise there is no point in auto-extension at all. Do you have different understanding?
We will consider your proposal, but in my view this is not that urgent yet. Anyway I will try to give you reply as soon as possible.

From WPC's diplomat (not turn player):
WPC Wrote:Hello Scooter,
I can answer to the first question.
Yes, we have NAP with the CFC up to turn 170 or so.
I'm not the turn player so I don't know Beta's playing schedules, but second half of the timer seems reasonable.
I think we could do it.
best regards,
Tatu

Verbose and scummy sounding. I like 7s draft.

Hey, this is a game and we are drafting a response to an enemy, which we are planning to attack in 5 turns. We are supposed to be scummy here and try to trick them.
It seems people are against scooters draft so maybe it could be worded out differently or something, but let's still try to maximize our own position!

Disagree for a couple reasons.
1) There must be some limit. Otherwise why are we timing the attack to coincide with the end of the nap?
2) Actually the situation is that both we and WPC are attacking them. They have the ability to choose which attacker to hinder more. Being scummy hurts us in this contest.

Quick note: have we asked CivPlayers about a spices-for-sugar trade? We should put that in in our next message to them.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

Why don't we take a leaf out of CFC's book and have Scooter say that RL is pushing him really hard and we are looking for a replacement diplomat. Once we get one of those, he says that Scooter hasn't passed on all of the history, etc, etc.
Don't do this, in my opinion its very disrespectful and doesn't paint RB in a good light when its clearly a lie. Saying something along the lines of "Ok guys our team will discuss the proposed NAP extension and get back to you" seems a better course of action to me.
I agree with this. I don't like the lying diplo aspect of the game so I'd rather project good sportsmanship. Yes, it's a diplo game, no, I don't like it.
I want us to be able to tell the germans on T150: "Nothing personal, but we've run out of expansion room and want to appropriate some of your lands. We have enjoyed our diplomatic relations and hope to be able to resume them once this conflict has been resolved." And I want us to be able to say something like that without that being a contradiction of what we've said before. I.e. if we're sending a stalling message we can say that we're building up military to project influence, and that we don't want a NAP extension at this point because it wouldn't be in our best interest. Dantski's proposed reply works as well, since we're saying we'll discuss the proposed NAP and not that we'll consider it.
I have to run.

We could even try some reverse psychology and say that we'll discuss it but that we probably aren't interested because we feel pretty secure after we adopted nationhood.
All of the "we'll think about it" BS is really easy to see through.
If you know what I mean.
