Pretty much agree with Novice. You can lie by omission in diplo, but nothing else. It will come back and hurt you. And it's easy to compare notes if teams have an interest to do so, and trivially so after the game.

I know you're joking, but I don't consider this morally OK in real life let alone as a negotiating tactic, and I don't think it's a joking matter.

Disagree for a couple reasons.
1) There must be some limit. Otherwise why are we timing the attack to coincide with the end of the nap?
2) Actually the situation is that both we and WPC are attacking them. They have the ability to choose which attacker to hinder more. Being scummy hurts us in this contest.
Ok, I agree with your points.
(But still, this is a competitive game where all the teams are trying to maximize their own benefits and if scummy diplo achieves that it should at least be considered. Of course I personally also prefer a solution which enables us to both achieve our military goals and remain in terms with the Germans)

Sounds like we can easily send them something like ...

Unfortunately that seems to imply war is imminent, or that we are at least considering it.

I'm actually quite happy we've managed to get us this far. 4t of lead time before we declare is quite good in a full-diplo game. With everyone NAPed up, achieving strategic surprise is quite hard to do.
Compare this with our own paranoia with regard to CFC, where we are starting to see a war with them in 30 turns time.

I know their working it out is inevitable, so my comment was more that as a form of damage control ruffs draft doesn't really work.

I think we should just be honest. Wait a day or two and decline the offer. We don't even have to go into reasoning.
What is the worst that the Germans can do in these last few turns? They have been oblivious so far, but now that they realized our power, they will assume the worst case scenario if they have any sense until we get back to them. I haven't seen any stalling or outright lying draft yet that I think will fool the Germans even slightly. If anything that would just backlash when the germans share it with other teams.

Agree. There's nothing we can say that won't let the Germans know that we are going to attack them. Best not to answer for a few days, then just decline it.
