You can do both, take a few cities to pull their stacks into awkward spots. We have maneuver superiority with our knights so we can split their stack out over time through forks and eliminate the army piece meal.

Thanks to kjn's help I've got the mod and pitboss installed and the ports worked out. When I get off work in a few hours I'll get ruff's file up and then post here.

I think that we're discussing troop movement but there is a diminishing returns aspect at play here. We can't really fake them out well enough to convince them since we need the troops on the front line on time, which means that the little bit we might do is 1) unlikely to really change their thinking or allay fears and 2) increases the risk of moving troops out of position to be ready in time and/or more opportunities for misclicks. I can't log into the game, but my sense from the posts here is that it may be time to either move forward to the front line or, if that isn't necessary yet, then just sit still.

I know how to get all of the units to their proper place at the right time. As long as no one moves things in-game by accident, we'll be fine.

It might not be bad to have a ban on non-Sulla logins during war time.

I'd trust kjn as well. He's logged into this game how many times and not messed anything up? Keeping our C&D going is probably worth a tiny risk there I'd say.

Well, I've messed up things at times, too. But I am ultra-careful about units, and I have set up a decent flow for when I change tile assignments (take a screen shot, move around tiles, then move back with the help of the screen shot).
It'd be nice to have a list of the people that are currently able to log in. Right now I know of and remember:
Sullla
kjn

I think there have been at least one or two more.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

It might help to turn on "no unit cycling" in the options menu. You can still cycle through units intentionally but the game won't automatically select any units for you. This makes it possible to have zero units selected, even when a lot of them have movement left, simply by deselecting the active unit when you log in.

Two suggestions that came into mind regarding the practicalities during the most important war turns:
1) When the actual war turns are being played, should we have some kind of war team with couple of additional members (not me) that would be in a live chat (or something similar) with Sullla. I trust completely Sullla's judgement and he should be in charge of things, but e.g. attack order of units is a topic where it might be beneficial to have multiple people chiming in with ideas.
I guess the turn will be played in multiple parts and the most important decisions will also be discussed here during the turn, but this could be a way to include the democracy aspect during the actual fights. Obviously the schedule would be made with close to no warning based on Sullla's timetable.
2) Depending also how practical it is, I would love to see a video version of our attacks..
No pressure, just expressing my wishes!

I log in most turns. I don't mess things up either.
