Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

I think I would like to steer the conversation with CP a bit away from them attacking us. Something like: we'd prefer peace, if we help you with units against someone like civfr, would you consider NAP etc.

This is something we pay for their NAP, just as we'd be willing to give them resources for example. It also has the advantage of hurting a competitor. What do you think of proposing them this, that is declaring war together on civfr and we contribute with units, they keep cities, maybe give us some gold.

It might be a bad idea to have no CFC NAP and have half our army 1/2 way around the world fighting CivFR.

We can send part of the army we would need anyway to defend against CP.

I guess I'm more concerned that the CivFR offer basically asks us to be in a conflict with 2 of the Game Leaders potentially at the same time and put 1/2 our army really far away from any of our conflict. Plus CivFR probably won't die, they might just comeback extremely annoyed and roll over CP.

And then we would be stuck with both CivFR and CFC teamed up against us.

The beauty of the 180 NAP with CP is that it's not mutually exclusive with anything. It doesn't commit CP to attack us or to not attack us. It's a good idea for CP if they decide to attack us, and it's a good idea if they decide not to attack us. After we get them to accept that logic and the 180 NAP, then we can try and talk or buy them out of attacking us (though it's probably far and away their best shot at victory).

That said, I'm kind of wary of buying off CP with units. We can probably survive a NAP-stab in this game. We probably can't survive one fueled by the number of units we'd need to gift CP to make them agree to that plan.

Hmmm... Got this nasty itch...
Is WPC really going to attack the Germans?

We have a NAP with them until T200, and they've been building military non-stop for a good while now. What else is there for them to do.

Well, Warendorf just one-pop-whipped from 16 to 76H, seems like a whip of walls to me (since the Germans have stone).
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

Ok! Forgot the long NAP!
Glad to hear that.

As for sending away units to hit CivFr... The thought crossed my mind, but it seems to be unrealistic to me. First, even if we secure an agreement, I don't feel good about the possibility of getting slazed with our own army. Second, we would be making an enemy out of CivFr as well, which doesn't seem like such a wise choice. Besides, I really doubt CP goes along with it. If we gave them 15 Knights or so and told them to do the rest, I think they would probably still lose that battle. So I don't think it's much of a realistic possibility.
