Let's make sure we treat these civfr developments with caution, at least until we can verify a hot war between CFC and civfr.

Here's my first stab at it:
Quote:Hi CivFR,
We've had alot of bad blood in our dealings with Team CFC, and we'd love to directly intervene and hurt them for everything they've done to us. However, we have a NAP with them until turn 175, and we absolutely intend to honour that deal. Still, thank you for confirming that our team can never, ever trust Team CFC, and that they will find any excuse they can to break deals with other teams. I would not be surprised in the least if we end up being attacked before the NAP is finished.
Therefore, we're extremely interested in co-operating with your team. We'd like to open borders so we can both get trade routes, and resource trades are also on the table.
Our knowledge of CFC's army is that it is extremely heavy on Knights, meaning that they will be vulnerable to War Elephants. We have a sentry chariot moving towards the CFC-Spanish battlefield, which we can use to relay information and CFC's vulnerabilities to you. We'd also be interested in a map trade, as we vision of all of CFC's western cities.
Thanks, and good luck in your quest for revenge!

That sounds a little too eager. We want CivFr to believe that we can make for a reliable log-term ally, and CFC's douchebaggery has presented a possible starting point. But we'll want to avoid making it too evident that we need this friendship more than they do. Otherwise they can just sit on the fence to wring huge concessions out of us.

This is a huge opportunity with CivFr, we should definitely take advantage of it. If they want a gold loan or resources or whatever, give it to them. We make an alliance with a strong team on the other side of the map, and we can divide up CFC later on together. Speaking long term, if we have an alliance with WPC and CivFr, we're in extremely good position to break up any potential dogpile nonsense. CivPlayers and Apolyton would be extremely hesitant to attack us if they have to worry about CivFr attacking them.
CFC's decision to attack CivFr over a Great Merchant is one of the more idiotic things I've seen in one of these games. That was an easily courtable natural ally for them, and they destroyed relations over something that trivial?!

I fear this GM message is part of a grand deception. But.... We can't miss this opportunity to cultivate civfr as a friend. Look at the map! A working relationship with civfr opens up all kinds of possibilities.

I don't think CivFR would team up with CFC to fight us, maybe just try and play CFC against us. I don't think we'll have to worry about much until they start asking about strategic information. If CFC wanted troop locations, they have a bunch of other people they can ask. Also asking them for an NAP would be nice in our 2nd wave of agreements. We want to address their concerns first.
Quote:Hi CivFR,
Unfortunately, we can't declare on CFC just yet despite our annoyance with their deals (not as bad as your dealings with them I it seems) and their planning an attack on us on turn 175.
The good news is that we're extremely interested in co-operating with your team. We'd like to open borders so we can both get trade routes, an EP spending agreement so we can get each other's graphs and not waste our points on each other(?), and resource trades are also on the table.

We'd also be interested in a map trade, as we vision of all of CFC's western cities. Speaking of the Spanish, have you talked to them? We've been trying to assist them with their war because we can't intervene as directly as we like. Perhaps you can help each other until we can figure out some way of sending you aid.
Thanks for getting back to us so quickly, and good luck!

We should ask the Spanish about whether or not they want to cooperate with CivFR. A big CivFR commitment might save the Spanish or cause that war to grind to a halt as reinforcements are diverted against the French. We might as well try and get a full anti-CFC block going with WPC, the Spanish, and CivFR and have everyone talking together.

What is biggest CFC city size? I thought poly or CP has bigger cities. Why would civfr send GM to CFC?

There are two size 17 cities in the game, Indira (CFC) and Tenochtitlan (CivPlayers). Indira is farther away from Miss Click (size 19, and the CivFr capital).
