The firewall issues is present at lots of times, with various players.

I have had trouble connecting with one of the CivFr and one of the CFC turn players, and I think the opposite might be true. At the same time, I haven't had issues connecting with several other players, and they no issues with connecting to me. In some cases I think the problem is one-way (ie I can connect with X, but X can't connect to me or vice versa), but I haven't done any systematic survey of that.

So I have chalked it down to firewall compatibility issues, too complex to troubleshoot, so just deal with it.

Has 2metra never played a pitboss game before? That's just part of life when you play pitboss he can't seriously be singling out one team for that can he?

Please use me as an example of someone who can not turn off his firewall because he lives in China behind the world's largest firewall.

A random suggestion: Would it be worth finding a place to build a spy or two to use for battlefield visibility? They become a lot more useful with Engineering.

We don't have Alphabet yet. I'm going to push hard for three spies once we get that, and that it's the next tech.

Connectivity issues have been present in Civ4 MP since day 1. Some players, even with all appropriate ports open and firewalls disabled, simply can't connect to each other. That guy is a jack ass, but then again, we all knew that already, right?

Let's just publicly blame an anonymous RB person behind a national firewall on CFC and move on. Bonus benefit of making 2metra look rude.

Imagine if we get them to give us the loan, speeding up engineering, and later we end up at one of the cities on their half before they do, in part due to getting engineering a turn earlier. WPC is going to feel ridiculously cheated if we use that early engineering (or even if we don't, but appearances are everything) to beat them to one of "their" cities, and all they get out of it is a couple gold in interest. If we get to "their" cities under our own power because WPC got bogged down, well, they won't be happy, but they'll probably accept it given our discussions on the matter.
So lets be honest with WPC. If we are indeed short of gold, we tell them we need X amount this turn to get Engineering to help us speed up the war against the mutual enemy. If they feel that would risk "their" cities, then that's ok. I mean, we are advancing them a happy resource. I don't expect it to be much gold in anyway, if we really are short.
But would we not rather loan 20 gold from WPC for 2 turn than pillage some tiles, we might want later on or put a city on wealth?

We should pillage those tiles either way, we don't want cottages there, the city needs farms.
I have to run.
