Seems to be dependent on which theme you're using. I see the behaviour you're describing in the default theme, but in the Apart Calm theme it works as before.
I have to run.

Yeah it definitely looks like a theme setting, it just seems that for whatever reason this default theme got switched over to the different quoting setting. Strange. Also, before anyone apologizes, I definitely don't mind the hijack right now. I think our thread needs a little time to cool down before discussing PB8 at all.

It just seems like anyone who comes into combat with Commodore finds a newfound or reawakened talent of raaaaaging hard. So you've simply fallen victim to a malady, nothing on your character.

Back on important topics: three cheers to this guy for fixing the quoting thing. It was bad enough to lose a city in a bizarre manner like that, but if quoting was permanently messed up on top of that I was going to RAGE.

Tough break on the city raze. Was that your HE? I did not know about the Morale land > promote > move either, but I'd say it's a fair move (not that I'd like to lose a city to it though )

Scene: The Khmer palace, where the warlord Commodore sits on his throne, appearing bored as his advisers discuss how to best manage the growing empire. Suddenly, they are interrupted by the bored ruler.
Commodore: Tell me, why doth the Zulu nation persist to exist upon the luscious earth that I ruleth from my throne of philosophical and entertaining stories?
Adviser 1: Sir, why are you talking like an over-eager literature teacher?
Commodore: I ASKED YOU A QUESTION.
Adviser 2: Well sir, the Zulu are a nation that poses no threat to us. They cannot compete with us economically, and their land force pales in comparison to our own, and it will only get more outdated with time.
Commodore: What do the lurkers think?
Adviser 1: ...lurkers?
Commodore: The readers. They would like to be entertained.
Adviser 1: Your worship, there aren't any readers, there's only the Khmer people. And of course most of them can't even read because they get drafted into the military at age 14 and their schooling consists entirely of military training and story telling.
Adviser 2: And sir, for all the military training, none of them have even seen combat against a strong nation.
Commodore: We must invade the Zulu again.
Adviser 1: Are you even hearing the words we're saying?
Adviser 2: That does not seem like a wise use of our resources.
Commodore: They are a threat to our people. Also, I have a KICKIN role-play story ready to rock for this invasion. That's the main thing.
Adviser 1: Are you even interested in world domination?
Commodore: The Zulu are the key to world domination.
Adviser 1: THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT MUSIC IS AND IT'S A.D. FRICKEN 1600.
Adviser 2: Sir, the Zulu's only asset is their large, modern navy. If we simply complete our Chemistry research, our boats will be strong enough to repel any potential invasion. Besides, they are hard at war with our French rivals! If we simply leave them be, they will destroy one of our chief rivals while we continue to advance our people.
Commodore: There must be war. The lurkers read the Zulu history books more than mine, and that must be remedied.
Adviser 1: I would ask if this is a hidden camera gag, but we won't even be discovering that technology for another 500 years at this rate.
Adviser 2: Sir, if there must be a war, might I suggest an alternative?
Commodore: There can be no other. *poses like a general*
Adviser 2: ...please?
Commodore: *sigh*, okay I'll break character for a second. What's your grand scheme?
Adviser 2: Well the reason for seeking an alternative is simple. The Zulu nation is hard at work, spending long hours of the day and night managing their extensive, modern, veteran navy, with which they have completely demolished the French navy. They also have great enmity towards our nation and no chance of world domination, so the slightest bit of provoking could cause them to throw everything at us with zero regard to their own future. Many Khmer lives would be lost, both at sea and in slavery.
Commodore: Yeah I'm not seeing a problem here.
Adviser 1: You do want to, like, dominate the world and whatnot correct?
Commodore: Yes.
*Adviser 1 checks his calendar to make sure it's not April 1st*
Adviser 2: Why not invade the Mayan nation, led by the mysterious Serdoa?
Commodore: But they have more points than us.
Adviser 1: I would ask what you mean by points, but I'm quite certain I don't want to know the answer.
Adviser 2: The Mayan nation has no advanced navy whatsoever. They also have a vast amount of land that would prove very difficult to defend. They also have many enemies. The Portugese Tyrant Xenu would willing join our war, and the Aztecs and Dutch might even join in an opportunistic attack. Their countless coastal cities would be completely defenseless with our advanced and large navy.
Commodore: But the Zulu-
Adviser 2: Can wait. They are hopelessly behind, and that gap will only get worse. Leave them be for a little longer, and if you still want their land, it will go down without a fight when our boats are steel and our horsemen fire guns.
Commodore: Hm.
Adviser 1: Is he actually taking this seriously?
Adviser 2: Sir, what is your command
Commodore: The idea may be good, but I've already got this Zulu invasion role-play story 2/3rds of the way done, and I'd hate to put a good story to waste. So it'll have to do. TO WAR.
Adviser 1: That's it, I'm emigrating to the Netherlands
Adviser 2: Right behind you.
