It's been a while since I've had my butt handed to me so I'm up for playing. No preference on settings. I'm willing to try anything.

I would also prefer to avoid any bans on written diplo, but am fine with restrictions. AI diplo in particular can be quite frustrating.
I like the line up and most of everything else. However diplo on is a show stopper to me so you can consider me out.

So, is this going to happen? With Tholal, I think we have five players.

Somebody's got to tally up the votes. Let's see...
Choice of mod: Everybody is fine with either. HK and Ellimist voice a slight preference for FFH. That makes for a shorter list of allowed leaders, though (and we'd definitely want to cross Flauros off).
Living world: On (two votes for, three abstain).
Huts: HK and Ellimist prefer On. Dave prefers off, or at least to have a ban on the Clan. So, huts on and Sheelba banned?
Lairs: HK and Ellimist prefer on, Dave prefers off. Compromise to lairs with mapmaker-placed guardians?
Leaders: To be chosen from the restricted list.
Map: Brian prefers balanced. I think we can agree on that ![lol lol](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif) . Also the idea of a big map was put forward, which nobody disagreed with. Note that Lanun and the Clan are banned, which should make balance easier.
Diplo: DaveV votes against full. Ellimist votes against AI. HK votes for AI or restricted. So, 1/message per turn?
Human takeover: disabled. You're welcome to bring Basium or Hyborem into the game, but either the summoner or summonee will be an AI.
Starting units: I don't think we've got a consensus yet. I'm in favor of the free shade, as usual.
Did I miss anything?

...
Leaders: To be chosen from the restricted list. If the "loser" list requires EITB, I'm fine with that, so this sounds fine. (I'm also fine with base FFH and a more relaxed leader choice.)

My position has actually shifted a bit considering the events in XXV, where one bad lair pop has killed off one civ and threatens another. I would prefer to see some consistency in guardians though, so one lair wouldn't have a significantly stronger guardian than another lair of the same type.

Well it sounds like I'm the only one in favor of more permissive diplo, and plako feels pretty strongly about it. I'm willing to abstain here to form a consensus.

I think I'm reading this as big map, guard the lairs, everyone can reach each other by land, and balanced? Otherwise mapmaker discretion. Is that correct, or is there anything more specific people want to add?
I'm leaning toward one of Inland Sea, Tectonic, Lakes, or Donut, as my base map type, probably Large size, as long as I hear no objections. Of course whatever I roll will be substantially edited for balance.
Do you want to pick civs right away, see starts first, or something else? Is there any info you want from me before you pick?
Also - is plako in or out? Would be handy to know if I'm making a five player or six player map ![wink wink](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/wink2.gif) .

I'm out yes. I think more clearer that way since the game organizer has strong prerence for diplo on.

Well actually a balanced map for me would be 14 corned floodplains, grassland hill iron and two each of grassland hill gems and gold, with everybody else starting in five ring deep desert surrounded by ten rings of jungled ice, on isolated islands ![tongue tongue](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/RBOld/tongue.gif) .
Have made my picks thanks to my friends at random.org, and will post to Mardoc after I medicate my cat's eyes.

How are you guys sending your picks? As far as I can tell, there hasn't even been a clear decision on which mod is being played!
