What if cfc is wardecccing civfr with the larger diplo scheme in mind? What if they could not get civfr to ally with them so they started this war to A) distract civfr 2) war for a bit and then lock them into a nap? It's something I would do. If I was planning to attack the #1 civ in 20 turns I want a secure border. Civfr declines to nap with them. They declare war skirmish a bit the. Engage in diplo with civfr to end the war. Then with that border sealed up from a peace treaty with a ton of agreements most likely. They have their secure border and can swing at us. It's possible that they are warring simply to gain leverage in peace negotiations.
We should think about this and talk to civ fr sooner than later about this possibility.

So what else can we do? We can over CivFr a deal that if they do not sign a long term peace agreement with CFC that when the time of war between us and CFC comes they can swoop in and take some of the spanish land (that's next to Civfr right?) while CFC fights with us.
I think we should definitely offer civfr a gift. We need to show we're serious about this and that we want to make them a long term ally. And I think we should write this in a proposal to them. Explain that they and we are positioned perfectly to be allies as we are on opposite sides of the world. I'm sure this thought has occurred to them as well but we need to make it clear that we are proposing something clear cut.
I dunno I don't feel like drafting anything myself because I hate diplo. But that doesn't mean I don't see the possibilities and opportunities. Let's just be super straightforward all cards on the table. We're often too freaking cagy and selfish in diplo here at RB.

Yossarian was messing around the other day when I asked him about it because he obviously wasn't allowed to tell me, so he was saying they were invading CivFr in a manner that was clearly not all that serious. So a couple of his comments are still along those lines. That's not to say it's impossible that they aren't taking it seriously, but my feeling is they really were being opportunistic. Foolish, but opportunistic.
This many times over. In the first turn of the CFC/CivFr war, all of one unit was attacked. It's bluster till we see some dead units.

I think highest priority with CivFr right now is to resolve the Ivory gift to the Germans.

I don't think it is, as I doubt they'll declare war (only way to cancel).

Now is a good time to do diplo with CivFr because, apparently, they reduced the score points gap between our teams from 300 to less than 200. I'm not sure they realize our potential with this war and with the happy cap we have to grow into, so maybe they think that a NAP will favour them. Not sure if they have our graphs, but is likely that their GNP is kicking ours right now.

Yeah - if it weren't for Sullla, Seven, T-Hawk, and all the other people better at civ than me, I'd think we're falling to the conqueror's curse. Our GNP keeps falling, especially relative to the top teams. And it will get worse before it gets better.
I trust their judgment, that it'll be easier to turn land into GNP later on, than to turn GNP into more land, but it definitely makes us look weaker than we are.

Quote:Hi Scooter. Greetings from the North.
One of your players in-game yesterday said "We have not seen the main German army yet." Which reminded me of this screenshot you sent earlier. I compared that pic with what we can see in and adjacent to Warendorf. For what it is worth, here is the comparison:
Earlier Picture
4 catapults
2 spear
4 chariots: Eocheid, gubbelheid, El commandante Heid, 1 un-named
10 axes: Der Falke Helm, Fonte Rande Helm, Baerenstark, deepwater Helm, Penguin Helm, attazau, Comi, 3 un-named.
Currently in and adjacent to Warendorf
6 catapults
2 spear
4 chariots:Eocheid, gubbelheid, El Commandate Heid, Gullixheid
9 axes: attazau Helm, Comi, Kimmyhelm, Don Amigo Helm, Lara Helm, Kaffeesatzleser Helm, 3 un-named
Somewhat similar in make-up. The five axes in bold in the earlier list are the ones clearly missing from the Warendorf area (or they may be hiding in one of the shaded tiles we cannot see). And of course, we can't track the un-named units. My sense is that they have NOT be re-naming units to try and hide anything.
They have been rushing a fair number of units, and I don't know how many you may have eliminated, but this comparison may help somewhat.
Congrats on your success last turn. Our team has been thinking that if you brought maces to the party, which you no doubt have, and the Germans have seen the inevitable conclusion to this war, they may prefer to throw their army against our dog soldiers rather than your maces. We will see as the war unfolds, but again, rest assured that we will not be shirking from combat.
Cheers!

The German war thread contains a list of lost units for us and the Germans so far in the war.
The two stacks seem similar, but given the names I think most units of their main stack is still in the south, around Webringen, but that they've sent the chariots north.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

I see the CivFr comments. Just a reminder that we sent two messages to them yesterday, so we're waiting on responses.
