Didn't mean to ignore this - we got talking about this briefly by chat - this blew me away. Sure our thread gets a little spammy from time to time, although personally I think the Great Fast Food Debates were suuuuuuper crucial lol. Anyway, it got me curious about screenshots. I have over 700 I've posted in my PB8 dropbox folder alone, and Pindicator has around 300 of his own. So at some point very recently we crossed the 1K screenshot plateau as well. That's just short of .5 screenshots per post, which I like to think is pretty solid content-wise since 1,000 of the posts came from somebody other than pindicator or myself (mostly one-sentence Noble posts, hah). Crazy game.

You've also recently become just the third person to reach 9,000 posts on RB, so congrats on that.

Impressive.

And I thought I posted a lot. But, nope, scooter's got more than twice my count.

Who are the top two? Werewolf players?

(sorry for spamming Pindicooter, but it's all in a good case for you winning the thread record).

Novice, then Krill. You can sort the members by post count using the member list, btw.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

I moved as planned. And I underestimated. We have 10 frigates and 11 galleons on that tile I marked. Plus 3 more frigates within 2 tiles and I'm going to whip frigates everywhere I can again. Because the best way to defend against Rifles is to make sure they never land.

Take a look at the power graph:

Commodore lost 15 knights, 1 musket, and 1 GG mace, and his power spiked UP.
Rifles incoming...

I think I have heard that in Pitboss the graphs update with two turns delay so if the power goes up next turn as well you should be worried..

Noble can correct me if I'm wrong crazyeye

The power graph delay is highly peculiar and I don't know the exact mechanics of it. lol

Wow, that's pretty ridiculous. I'm going to try tell myself that being 3rd in posts at an online forum is "not that bad" because the two above me made their accounts a few years after me.

Werewolf is a chief culprit for novice probably, and I played werewolf a lot for awhile too. Krill is just Krill, and I think that's a good enough explanation for his total. lol

Anyway, game is down and it sounds like it could be that way for a few days (bigger fish for sunrise), so we may be waiting in suspense for awhile longer.

And it's little surprise that The Grand Kibitzer looks to be the likely next person to break that threshold.
