In all serious, I am still enjoying the game, and I just got to take over the turns again from Lewwyn, I would be sad to see the game end.

Also I would like to see Serdoa and Plako go to war before the game ends!

@pindicator: Hey didn't you already win a game by AP vote? lol Or was that someone else?

@Bigger: I'd like to see it too, but no way in hell would I volunteer for playing those turns if I were either of Serdoa or Plako...that's an ungodly time sink you're asking for.

I'd actually be sort of interested in counting them up. I genuinely think we're hovering around 75% war turns.

I thought you were role-playing the Zulu, tbh. Too bad your leader isn't montezuma wink.

I'm certainly not seeing a way (outside of serious, immediate, opponent brain damage) for this to go my way, and looks like Serdoa isn't seeing it either (besides, if renaming Dominos to Papa John's is an indication, they're getting smarter). I'm happy conceding to Plako, he's played an awesome game. goodjob

That being said, I'm up for dem turns as they keep on rolling if other people want to play on.

I don't know if you have a way of easily accessing/backing up the folder the game saves stored in. If you have a Dropbox account (or similar service) maybe you could have the game save folder inside the Dropbox folder so you'd be able to access the save files remotely. If the server goes offline you can still get to the files easily for transfer to a backup host.

The new server (the real 'new' one, not the replacement that will get worked on today) will be imaged and then backed up weekly. However it's really not an issue for civ, since accessing the saves remotely doesn't do much good unless there's more or less a drop-in replacement ready to go.

I very much appreciate the sentiment in this, but unless it takes me from 6 games -> 0 it only makes the reloads go a little bit faster.

The reality is even aside from Civ hosting I need to substantially upgrade my second PC. My goal is to have it serve as a civ server, media server+transcoder, and backup web machine, and the existing PC just isn't usable for that. I'm only annoyed because the server (or more precisely the server running six games) doesn't seem to be able to hold on until I'm ready to build the new machine.

That's where the cold spare (aka, my machine) comes in. If your box is offline or at a different location where you can't easily bring it back online you can at least pull the game saves out of Dropbox and send them to me (once I have the server set up to handle multiple games, anyway). My turnaround on reloading the game would be basically "how long until I get home from work?" once I can receive the saves. I don't think it would be helpful every time but it may be helpful some of the time, like if you're unable to get access back to your server for a few days, for instance.

I'm ok either way. With these tech costs end game will take a long time. However as long as there is some player that would like to see it continuing I think we should and Bigger seems to be in favor of continuing.
