I sent a message to Q saying "NAP accepted to T250". I'd rather not give a timeline for the NAP, or they might get ideas to attack say T230 and get 20 turns to romp in unopposed. Something like Thank you. Negotiations are actually going better than expected so it looks like war will be averted, but thanks anyway!

Daah, we should've asked Q when his NAP with Trolls expires. Is response to M3 (we'll only participate if we know there's a real dogpile) okay?

Now that innsomia's been taken care of...
I reconfigured the cities for Galleys... and completely forgot to build Settlers. I'll get to that.
More importantly, spot for filler city. I'm thinking we should settle on the 'or here' sign, plains hill.
Next is Optics/Compass/Astro, no?
We got a response from Gillette:
Quote:Dear Pirates,
Sorry to dilly-dally about getting back to you. I'm afraid our maps
are worth a bit more to us than 50 gold - how about 20 gold per turn
for 10 turns? (Or the lump sum up front if you'd rather?)
While we're on the subject of money we have some spare unique health
resources and should have spare unique happy resources soon too which
we'd like to hawk around - I think about 10 gpt is usually the going
rate for health, with a bit more for happy, are you interested?
All the best
That's about half our gold gain at 100% gold. I think we should take it. As for happy/health, we don't need them. How about
Quote:We accept a 200 gold upfront offer. We do not wish to purchase any resources.

Agreed on both M3 and Gillette. Go ahead and offer the map for 200g.
The filler city sign was leftover from long ago. I agree that "or here" is better. San Juan is ok to stop growth now, so my feeling would be to give the Deer to the new city even if San Juan is starving for a bit. Once the food bar runs down we can give the Deer back to San Juan. We should buid only Farms on the Grasslands and WS on the mines at the new city.

Response from M3:
Quote:Thank you for your consideration! We would like to inform you that Gillette is tentatively in for t210 assuming conditions are reasonably favourable, in case you change your mind.
Cheers,
THH
Huh. Well, that's far enough in the future that we can probably stall for time.

New Zeelandia was founded, because the Manchu must pay:
I rejuggled San Juan so that it wasn't starving, at Santiago's expense. Two more Muskets and a Hindu Missionary come in next turn.
Offered map swap to Gillette EOT:

a couple suggestions:
– We don't really care whether San Juan starves a bit, as long as it doesn't lose a pop. There isn't anything great to grow into. I think it's better go get the extra food in New Zeelandia by giving her Deer rather than the Sheep.
– We should get that forest chopped so that we can whip the Terrace in as soon as we grow.
– Do we have a NAP agreement with Gillette? Might be a good idea to think about an NAP if we're going to come in contact on the island. The map trade will make things clearer.

Chopping the forest as we speak, though of course should've had it prechopped We should delay whipping the Granary until the food box is half-full, since we have farms to grow onto. Also, just checked, we have a rolling NAP with 10-turn cooldown with Trolls, assuming zak hasn't forgotten about it.

Prechopped wouldn't have helped much since we have to wait until the whip anyway, so not much is lost.
Yes, with Troll we have the rolling NAP, but what about Gillette?
