Tried the demo, had fun with it but certainly couldn't play this game any longer with the keyboard controls.

I Swapped out all the defaults. Wasd became my move keys q and e stayed dash move. J main attack, k magic spell, l special, space stayed jump. Also the quick drop enabled. With that config it's been infinitely better than the default.

I think the Barbarian is just OP because the shout just demolishes bosses by erasing projectiles. Hokage is really good for clearing the map quickly and Spellsword is amazing for boss fights with the flame shield.

Didn't know about the barb shout. Sounds very good indeed. I don't have the spellsword yet; flame shield is the one that you can toggle on/off to be surrounded by fireballs, right? I've seen this one in Archmages.

I have all these runes, but need the money to unlock them. What's also bothering me is the fact that the Charon and +Gold skills are so expensive. I would love to upgrade those further, but I can't get enough cash on one run.

I don't think the Charon upgrades are worth it, at least at low character levels. You get to keep 6% of your gold at each upgrade, right? But that's too little gold to matter, since - at least I do it this way - I open some upgrade everytime I have money for it, rather than trying to stockpile gold. The gold skills and runes seem to be worth it, though.

1. The Paladin not only has his shield special, but can turn into an invulnerable statue if you press "special button" + "down".

2. There is the possibility to unlock the dragon class in the manor screen that is somewhat hidden: "There's a flag pole barely visible at the top of the castle screen, press Up below it to select the Dragon class." Supposed to cost around 5000 gold.

3. There is also a list of all special items you can get at the altar:

Got the Hermes' Boots once and had no clue what they were doing. lol

Didn't know about any of these. I got the Hedgehog's Curse on the first Altar I've found, so I thought it could give harmful bonuses (I didn't realize you dropped more coins than you actually lose of gold). I'll use it more from now on.

I got used to the controls after a while, though I still miss things from time to time (and I seldom use magic spells, so that's one key less). I guess playing MOBAs helped me on this (and I mean a MOBA that requires real skillz, like DotA 2; not the easy mode LOL neenerneener ).

I have bought the game as well and I am highly enjoying it currently at lvl 47 with 4.5ish hours played.
One thing i haven´t figured out yet is why the Lich class stops recieveing bonus health after ~25 kills in the castle section. Is that in place so you simply can´t farm the low lvl sections of the game for absurd amounts of health, and i need to enter the more difficult areas in order to continue recieving my health bonus?

I don't think it has anything to do with the level of the opponents, there's just a hard cap for the amount of health you can get (maybe it's based on your strenght - or another - stat, don't know). When you upgrade Liches to Lich Kings, you can turn your extra health into extra mana and then farm health again. After a while, both your health and mana will be maxed and you can't get any more of it, as far as I could see.

Yeah first thing I did was change keys, funnily enough I reverted back to the keys I used back on the Spectrum even though I haven't used those in at least 10 years for anything. crazyeye

I think part of my problem was I could be comfortable using 4-5 keys but more than that and I had to slow right down and be very deliberate.

I just beat the third boss at level 61. I used a barbarian king, as suggested by ASM (I don't remember the traits). Runes where again, mostly mobility ones, double jump, fly and dash (the others were useless). No vampirism items, because it's useless against this boss. I've tried some 10 times with multiple classes until I did it (using the architect - the other bosses I beat without the architect, just trying when I reached it; the tower is too difficult for this, though lol).

Strategy below.

This boss is fairly straightforward. Take your time, carefully attacking the boss when you have openings, it's not worth trying to dish out too much damage and being hit. I used the barb mainly for the high HP, which allows further hits; the shout helps - it clears the fireballs -, but it's not entirely needed, as it may seem from first glance; with enough mobility, it's not that hard to dodge the fire.

I think the main thing you need for beating this boss is a lucky spiked mines arrangement. Depending on where they are bouncing, it is easy or very hard. I got some tries where there was a mine bouncing parallel to the ground, but low enough that you couldn't dodge it by just walking, you had to jump - that was extremelly difficult to dodge and annoying. On the try I made it, there were two mines near the left wall, but I could dodge both if I hugged the wall as close as possible. That made two of the mines essentialy unharmful and the whole fight way easier.

I think boss 3 is actually really easy, getting to boss 3 is really hard though.

I am at level 90 and haven't even tried the 2nd boss...too much upgrading to do. lol It usually goes like this: I want to do one last run and find a new blueprint. Of course now I need to play on until I can purchase the new gear. Unfortunately, the new helmet would put me over the weight limit, so just one more run to upgrade this as well...

For general clearing I love the vampire runes. I find it a bit odd though, that you need to equip the vault and sprint rune for double jump and dash. It would have been more fun if these two were standard abilities, double jump ability seems almost mandatory.
