New turn, and Commodore still hasn't moved
I'll play it later tonight, but it's gonna be more of the same. Whip some boats, upgrade caravels, rinse lather repeat.
We survived until turn 250!
I think I'll announce our winners tomorrow. So if you want to get a guess in, now's the time!

So plako sailed away. No idea what that was about, but he seems to be done now.
I missed a couple big details last turn. They happened after I played most of the previous turn, but it looks like Serdoa attacked Xenu and Xenu did well enough to earn a GG. No cities have yet to change hands. Hopefully Xenu takes a lesson from us and whips himself silly, because that's his only chance.
I bet Xenu is also wishing Bigger would just end this game. What we have now is all the rest of the civs are just messing around because they don't care about winning any more. Although I think Serdoa should have attacked Bigger, personally, and tried to help things along
Something else i noticed about Xenu. I know he's been moving around our waters a lot with carracks. I assumed just to see what was going on, but when he got invaded it seems he needed to move some units back home in a hurry:
All those carracks were loaded with knights! I assume if we would have ever gotten peace with Commodore then he would have swooped in. Crazy.
Speaking of Commodore, I showed you his stack already. Now here is what we have to defend against it:
31 frigates, 3 privateers, 5 galleons. If I didn't have the HE city pumping out 1-turn catapults right now we probably could be close to 40 by now. But we will be soon enough.
On the land side of things, we have about 25 attackers and a dozen catapults. When we get to 20 catapults I'm going to switch Taco Bell back to building boats.

So, it's finally time
I like how he burned his Morale promotions anyway after landing and used them to pillage the road and the mine
So what do we do? Do we launch an all-out attack and hope to get lucky?
We have 34% odds on attacks of ships with equal promotion. If the odds go as advertised, we would win 8 and lose 16 to his first frigates. That would give us 6 more frigates and 3 privateers and 4 galleons, but they probably would hit his wounded frigates rather than galleons. So we would have to get lucky to sink any galleons.
Regretfully we only have 4 units inside Culver's. We could bring everything into Sid's and try to make a stand there.

uhm
don't we have a lot of knights that we can stuff into culver's
pindicator
just 15
lor 14
i don't think we can keep culver's
maybe i should have whipped muskets instead of frigates, dunno
NobleHelium
okay so he has
four C2 frigates
n-6 C1 frigates
and two green frigates
how many c2 and c1 frigates do we have
pindicator
we have 6 c2, 24 c1
NobleHelium
okay
so we have slight promotion advantage
i think we attack for sure. i mean after he lands what's the point of our frigates anyway??
pindicator
true
probably abandon culvers too then
NobleHelium
well we attack first and see
pindicator
ok
we're going to need a pause
NobleHelium
you play tomorrow after input from scooter then?
pindicator
yeah
NobleHelium
ok
pindicator
and i'm really tired
NobleHelium
rifles get 25% to mounted? or 50
i forget
i think it's 25?
pindicator
25%
NobleHelium
ok
so rifles attacking off the boats would still get odds on knights
so yeah unless we kill a lot of galleons most likely we abandon the city
pindicator
pinch knights would be close to 50%
NobleHelium
i mean maybe we can even retake the city right after he takes it
if we kill enough galleons
pindicator
true
but there's good chance we don't kill any galleons
well, we will kill Reg-Oar-Rarr reborn
NobleHelium
well then we'll see if we can maul the galleons on the next turn
if he loses enough galleons his rifles will have to march on land
then we have a shot at slamming everything into it
pindicator
yeah
NobleHelium
hmm
well i guess he will move the galleons into the city
after taking it
we could blockade the city
pindicator
yeah, i don't nearly have enough catapults to hit as many rifles as i expect either

Definitely attack. Nothing to lose here, so just slam into it and whatever we kill is good with me. Like Noble said, those Frigates don't do us much good once he lands.

So I was randomly chatting with Commodore, mostly about stuff that had nothing to do with the game. I joked about the end being near in PB8 with the recent turn, and he said this:
Quote:Commodore: I regret that soooo much
Didn't mean to delay the turn!
I'm deadly serious, just End Turn, offer peace, whatever.
I'll go off.
Basically he's more interested in us all hitting end turn until Bigger is ready to call it, and slogging out a war with us slows down the turns. So yeah, this game is exhibiting all the usual characteristics of a game that should have been called long ago.
So I don't know if that changes the calculus for the turn. I guess if we really want to we could just slam into him and then offer peace, but if we want to just offer straight peace and keep our fleet intact, he'll accept in the interest of speeding the end of the game up.

Should have negotiated a joint attack against Bigger while you were at it
If you want to play the turn like that go for it, but I need to leave for work in a short time so I can't get to it until after I get back now.

Well, color me skeptical. Other people need the pause anyway, including the game's most wanted.

Nah I'm not going to. Not that I really could. I say just play it out like normal and offer peace, and if he wants to abandon his attack in favor of speeding the game up, cool I guess.

Not to mention that that would be close to forbidden Diplo
If he wants peace he can offer it next turn. (and you can make him pay for his acts against you by declining )
