Quote:Hi Scooter et al.
We have taken it on the chin the last few turns, but have taken some German units with us. We also have some 25 new units about to descend on Warendorf.
It would seem that few of the Warendorf defenders have move south, which is a good thing.
Do you have any sense that that the civplayers may be supplying the Germans with units? We saw one of their horse archers in Warendorf last turn, but it seems to have exited the scene (and from what I can tell, was not gifted).
Here's a pic of the wounded units in Warendorf. Soon as they are at full strength, we should be moving back onto the field of battle. :D:
We are fairly convinced that their principal aim at this time is to stick it to us. So be it. We are stickable.
I see there was more success in the south. Congrats! What's the status down there?
Cheers! Beta of WPC
ps - in that picture - it is a single longbow and 3 workers on the hill til. The rest you can see.

Poor WPC. Moving back one tile and wasting two turns was fatal.

More than one tile. Two tiles, on T153 they were 3N of Warendorf. It should be an albatross hanging around their neck, it was their own mistake that resulted in lack of gains, not our skill or opportunism. So five (5!) turns where the Germans could whip and reinforce.
(So if they get pissy this could be ammunition to beat them down and get our own way. Assuming they stay rational and penitent).

I am thinking if we want to send them a message asking what is their expectation now from the war given the results so far. If their expectation is unreasonable we can talk to them and explain the reality. I would also gift them a spice. It's a small cost for us.
EDIT: As far as I remember we have a NAP with them until T200.

there is no point in initiating this conversation at this time. no possible gain, only possible loss.

Yeah, we should probably start talking with WPC on what they expect post war.

again, I strongly disagree with broaching it with WPC at all. if they bring it up, then we can have that discussion.

Okay guys. Very long story short: a few of us chatted, we captured the city, moved up a sentry. Things look like this:
Please do not talk about the tactics here, I'll start a discussion on that over in the turn thread in a minute. More urgent though is we need to talk to WPC. German team has 4 cities left. You see Warendorf and Wilhelm here in the east, and the two tundra cities up north. City gifting is not allowed, so if WPC is going to get anything out of this, we need to let them take it.
Realistically we have two options:
1) We could just take everything. We would be within our right to do this, as it would not violate our agreement, or even the spirit of it. This would likely make WPC pretty unhappy with us, as they clearly DID get shafted in terms of GWT's defense. If we do this, we lose a friendly vassal. That's not much of a loss, but it IS still a safe border we can rely on currently.
2) We let them take 1-3 cities to make them feel better. We could just clear Warendorf for them and take the rest, but I'm not sure that's enough for them to be happy. Maybe Warendorf + 2 tundra cities is enough.
The issue is we really have no clue what makes them happy, because they are unpredictable and a little erratic. So, I think we really need to just ask them:
Draft to WPC Wrote:Beta,
Thanks for the update! So I wanted to talk to you about the current situation. Right now we are on track to be able to capture all of the remaining cities with no trouble - many Knights and Maces still live. We've worked hard to capture only cities on our side first according to our agreement, so we have carefully followed that. However, we don't want you guys to feel totally shafted. Is there anything we can do to make you feel like we've treated you fairly in terms of war spoils?
Thanks,
scooter - Team RB
I think we really need an answer before we play the turn. We need to know how we're handling things with WPC diplomatically before playing this turn. I want to send this message quickly (within an hour), so quick feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Btw, sending this message does not prevent us from just taking everything if we decide to go that route.

we could always raze the tundra cities and let them resettle
