Letting them down gently but firmly is best, so that they know things are really "over" between us and don't hold out hope for us changing our minds at some uncertain future 2am when our heads are spinning with wine and we're lonely and sad... Scooter/Pindicator, wasn't this conversation had at some point in that massive tome of a thread you guys penned for PB8? Lol, sorry but I just can't help myself here...yes, I'm an idiot.
I have to say, Scooter if you somehow let them walk away proud and happy- you are nothing other than a hypnotist.
So I have no idea if this sounds right, but here's my first stab at it. I think I need to send this tonight.
Draft to WPC Wrote:Beta,
If we take the four remaining cities and leave WPC with nothing but a crippled (whipped) empire after this war, we will lose the last civ that is friendly towards us. No lifelong gift of resources is going to change that. They want cities as much as we want cities.
We want to end this war as soon as possible? The Germans throwing everything at WPC is why we are in the position to end this war in 3-4 turns in the first place, so saying WPC did not pull its weight is grossly re-interpreting what happened. I am sure losing WPC as an ally will bite us in the behind one day, when we are short one vote against a stupid resolution or in dire need of intel, a spare resources (because our got spy-sniped) or a revolt back into a civic. Raze those cities, offer WPC a 10 turns window to re-settle before we do it, have a friend in the north-east. mh

M_H: Unfortunately I am pretty convinced that another team will conquer WPC before their friendship can matter like you say. How long do you think they will survive?
I'd like to keep them as friends, but not at that cost. If they can capture the cities ASAP, with our assistance of course, so be it. If not, it is unfortunate, but our true friends or whatever would trust that we have abided to the agreement thus far and that circumstances being as they now are, we must see to our own defense against aggression to our west. Sorry, etc, but firmly stated.
I provided the following feedback on scooter's draft over chat:
I would rather open with: germans have foolishly left us an opportunity to save you :D followed by: we will take those two cities this turn followed by: there's been a misunderstanding about our agreement. we stated going into the war that we would be aiming to end it asap and take what cities we can, without racing you then: for example, if you can take the city this turn, we will let you move first then: let us know if there is anything else we can do to help |
