I wouldn't expect liberate to be against the rules, but if it is, obviously we can just not kill the last german unit in the city, it's really simple.

Ah, so that option when we actually walk into the city. so the city never actually enters our possession.
(Technically speaking the city will belong to us when we walk in, and then transfer over to WPC).

Updated draft with Seven's additions and a change that LP suggested (removing "big" from paragraph 1):
Draft to WPC Wrote:Beta,
We did make an attempt to redline the last Warendorf longbow for your chariot, but we got a favorable dice roll and won the battle cleanly. Sorry about that, but we knew there was a chance that could happen because it's hard to precisely redline a unit enough for a chariot to kill :/. We had a weird string of luck, winning things we shouldn't and losing things we shouldn't.
Anyway, We were able to kill their stack on the pigs, and if you can keep surviving, we'll do all we can next turn to kill more units. We placed a few units on flatland, and I'm hoping they'll take that bait to attack back at us rather than you, but I'm not sure if they'll do that or not. We're sending 90% of our army towards Huron as fast as we can, so I hope we make in time. We also detached a few Knights onto tiles that has an outside chance of taking both tundra cities next turn, so if we get lucky and that happens, all of their units would go *poof* if you can survive next turn. Fingers crossed.
Next turn let me know how Huron looks, and we'll pick off whatever of their units we can get in range of.
Thanks,

edit: removed last exclamation mark

I'm getting tons of minor suggestions via chat from about 6-7 people, so here's draft 3:
Draft to WPC Wrote:Beta,
We attempted to redline the last Warendorf longbow for your chariot, but we got a favorable dice roll at the wrong time and killed the longbow from full health. Sorry about that, but we knew there was a chance that could happen because it's hard to precisely redline a unit enough for a chariot to kill :/. We had a weird string of luck, winning things we shouldn't and losing things we shouldn't.

Alright, it was super crucial that WPC get a message tonight, so I had a chat with Seven, Noble, Lord Parkin, ASM, Nicolae, and a couple others and we cleaned up the original message and sent. Sorry again that the whole team didn't get to see it, but quick response is critical in this case. Here's what we sent:

Nice work.
I suppose we could float the communism plan with a direct neighbour too, tied in with a no hostile spying plan.
I have to run.

Is UniversCiv still lacking spices? Can we gift them spices as a sign of good will while we are talking? We don't lose anything, they gain something and we start by us giving them something.

Got this from CivPlayers via chat (when no one was signed into the account) rather than email.
CivPlayers Wrote:Hi, Scooter
sorry for delay
Unfortunately we dont find your proposal interesting.
We are just thinking that giving you NAP is a way better for you than to have it ourselves.
It is not a matter of security, but plain economics. If you have to keep some forces at your borders this will help us to keep balance. While if everyone guarantee you peace we probably can just call this game and stop playing.
I really don't think there's much else we can say to convince them otherwise. I can try to play diplo games with them, but they are totally correct in their assessment.

Not a high priority, but we're getting close to needing a 'good game, well played' message for the Germans.
I think we can give them a lot of sincere compliments, it's the general consensus here that WPC put them into a bad situation early and it was impossible for them to come back.

Scooter, i think a short public statement apologizing for the delay and stating that this was a misunderstandimg of the state of the timer is a good idea
