I have a question: what happens if this time we don't get so lucky at Warendorf and redline a longbow? That is, what is the plan to do?

That would be an issue - that's a huge change to be affected by a reload.

We have to preserve the macro effects of our battles as well as we can. This means that we capture Warendorf.
I have to run.

Of course of course, the macro effects must absolutely be preserved lol

I agree btw that we should capture it, I am just thinking about what we'd say to WPC. I really wish we get lucky again.

Though I was in favor of giving WPC their shot, I don't even think it's diplomatically challenging if we have different combat results (though I see no reason we need to detail our results to WPC). Given this reload [i]caused the game admin to resign[/] it's pretty understandable that RB needs to ensure no additional protestable acts take place, such as a city switching teams smile

Make a reference thread, with links to things like the civstats page of the game, and the CFC forum about the game. And a copy of the ruleset of the game. Sticky it.

We already have a start for this, in the first post in the turn tracking thread.

I usually check the Civstats (and APTmod) page regularly, but a) not everything shows up there, b) I don't check the CFC pages unless I have reason to do so.

One more thing I think should help us would be that as soon as one of us finds the game paused when logging in, the first thing to do is to check the game admin threads. Then think carefully about unpausing and repausing.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

The start of the turn tracking thread has a couple random pieces of information but it doesn't have any of the things I listed. Furthermore it's not at all clear that you are supposed to look there as opposed to say, "How to Contribute to the Game" or "Index and Summary Thread". A separate, stickied thread would be much easier to reference.

Germans (first half), war with us
CivFr (first half), war with CFC
Us (second half), war with Germans
CFC (second half), war with CivFr
Univers (not at war)

The Germans ended their turn after say 24 hours. That meant our clock started ticking. However, the timer can only show a single value, and it always shows the least time remaining. So after the Germans ended turn, it still showed Univers and CivFr's timer. Once CivFr ended their turn, then CFC's clock would start ticking, but that wouldn't change the displayed timer as long as Univers didn't end their turn as well.

As someone encountering this setup for the very first time, I can honestly say... that's completely bonkers. lol

I'm surprised this issue hasn't cropped up more often. Fancy having a complicated timer setup where there are several countdowns to 0:00 per turn, but there's zero in-game information about who the timer corresponds to at any given time. crazyeye

If we're not going for the "macro/least disruption" argument... we say we got lucky, either way. The odds of successfully redlining a Longbow enough for a Chariot to successfully attack it are much less than 50/50 anyway (unless you're pointlessly throwing away a bunch of weak units), so it's not really a surprise for the attempt to fail twice in succession.

OK, well, I'm back from vacation. This last turn was a bit... messy. crazyeye Fortunately we have the Livestream recording from scooter during that last turn. When this game gets reloaded, we'll try to replay things as closely as possible to what we did originally, although I also doubt that we'll have combat luck quite as good. I should be able to take care of that whenever this game gets moving again.

I'll put together some organizational stuff tomorrow as well. We're in a position where we have tons of enthusiasm, but when that enthusiasm isn't properly channeled, it can lead to a reload situation like the one we had over the weekend. Hopefully we can avoid that in the future.

Q: When does our Marble from CFC trade start?
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.
