If the Germans capture Huron (which might be likely, except if they had enough of the game and just raze it instead, which IMHO is a real possibility), we will have to all the heavy work for them to recapture their city and risk capturing it unfortunately (smile), so I would ask them to start preparing for this battle instead of arguing about tundra cities they have to hope to capture (within a short time, and probably no hope to capture full stop).

Anyway, if I were WPC and I said "we're getting nothing from this war!" and RB said "uh you could settle some crappy tundra spots if you want!" I'd probably not be happy with that. I don't see how that helps anything.

agree with Scooter. it's all about speed. also, When we declined the hard land split we were gambling on being able to take our part by force... if we had lost that bet would we expect Wpc to donate cities to our cause?

And a poor one at that. Any argument they may have had for land went out the window when the only reason Huron River might survive is at our sufferance.

They most certainly did contribute, by drawing off the German army. We'd be down another 20 units if we had to fight through all those elephants and longbows. And we wouldn't remotely be on the verge of wiping out the Germans with the critical six turns remaining that we'll need to heal and reposition before the next impending invasions. WPC may well have kingmade us in this game.

Whether we want to voluntarily make concessions in light of that fact is an open question, but I really do want to acknowledge it with something of meaning beyond empty platitudes.

So we are in agreement that our best ally in this war was Germany?

Are you kidding me? If the Germans had piled their units into their front city on T1 of the war, we would have slaughtered their whole army, and then walked through their territory. They had no ability to hurt our stacks. We would have lost pretty much nothing but catapults. As is, our unit losses are only because we didn't use our catapults at all.

well, there are apparently no good solutions to the WPC problem.

I still feel that the strongest argument against giving them any cities is the idea that those cities are just future fodder for our enemies. Can we just complete the dickover and conquer them quickly enough to be ready for apolyton? we could even make sure germany gets a few chances to deal some damage before poofing them.

if we can hold strong brick-by-brick, i bet our armies are able to return in time. we'd trade some unimportant land for time if we had to.

We could try ignoring it and see if it goes away smile.

The only thing WPC did was let us save our catapults. Yawn. Simple facts:

1) If WPC declared by themselves and fought Inca 1v1, they would have gained nothing and ended up losing several cities
2) If we declared by ourselves and fought Inca 1v1, the conquest would have been slightly slower and casualties slightly higher, but the outcome would have been the same.
