What are the odds that they just take the units, and capture our cities with them?

Not sure about Apolyton. But if we think its an issue how about if we keep control of the units until we gift them on the turn before they enter CIVFr territory? That way if they turn right around we'll get some warning and we'll also get visibility on CivPlayers/Apolyton land. Asking to have a war observer along too shouldn't be a deal breaker.
Completed: RB Demogame - Gillette, PBEM46, Pitboss 13, Pitboss 18, Pitboss 30, Pitboss 31, Pitboss 38, Pitboss 42, Pitboss 46, Pitboss 52 (Pindicator's game), Pitboss 57

I'd rather save the gold and trust them - that's a few hundred gold in unit and supply costs that we save. But a war observer is a good idea. If someone is going to be that much of a bastard to break their word, we have a "no use on us clause" we gift all our cities and techs to UniversCiv and walk away from the game.

Alright, I see near-unanimous support for this, so I'll go for it when I get a few minutes and I see him on chat. Although I should note that this type of strong support makes me think there's no way they'd accept if we like it that much . Anyway, given the strong support, I'm going to be willing to offer a sweetener if necessary. Probably something along the lines of being willing not to run counter-espionage against them if they want to leech some techs off us.
I also don't think it's crazy to offer either a great person or some sort of gold. I would like to hope it won't come to that. Also, if they don't take this, I think we should take a similar offer to CFC. Something leaning to be a bit more economy-oriented though, given that we'd need our military for the western front. I think we will have the chance to raise the offer later if required.. Already offered it since he's on. However, I don't think this is the type of negotiation where lots of haggling is wise. Time is sensitive here, we realistically need a final answer within a day or two. The UCiv thing is really great. I'm thinking we do some intel sharing with them and ask if they want to fund us towards Rifling or whatever in return for repayment with interest. |
